Affairs
of Death (PART III of Death)
Story by Daisy
Death is a shadow that veils you like a peaceful sleep...or a nightmare.
Chapter Eight
Leighanne drove madly towards downtown. She had received a chilling call
telling her exactly where she could find Brian. But the last sentence sat
unsettling in her mind. “He’ll be hanging around up where you can see
him.”
Up? What was up? Upstairs? Upstreet? Uptown? Leighanne drove anyways and
her stomach tightened as she neared the intersection that the caller had told
her about.
And then she saw him. “He’ll be hanging around up where you can
see him.” The words screamed in her mind. Screaming, she slammed on the
brakes, the wheels turning because of the slick roads. Her car came to an abrupt
stop when her back tires hit the pole that Ebony had tied Brian to.
When the force of the car had hit the pole, the knots had come loose,
coming down from the pole and dragging Brian’s limp body down with it onto
Leighanne’s windshield.

It was the third funeral that Nick had been to in the past two months. It was sickening to know that someone out there had wanted Kevin, Howie, and Brian dead and had done so. He placed his hand on Brian’s casket one last time.
“I promise, Rok.” He whispered quietly, a single tear rolling down
his cheek. “I won’t let whoever did this to you and Kev and Howie get away
with it. I promise.”
