Yugi set a card face down and summoned Big Shield Gardna in defence mode(100/2600). Seto then summoned Z Metal Caterpiller(1500/1300) in attack mode and fused it with XY Dragon Cannon, to create XYZ Dragon Cannon(2800/2600). XYZ Dragon Cannon then destroyed Big Shield Gardna. Yugi then activated Line of the Soul, allowing him to pay 1000 life points to summon a Level 4 or lower monster when one of his monsters was destroyed. Yugi then summoned King's Knight(1600/1400)(Yugi's LP:3000). Since both King's Knight and Queen's Knight were on the field at the same time, Yugi was able to special summon Jack's Knight(1900/1400).
Seto then activated Heavenly Edict, which allowed him to pay 1000 life points so he could take one 8 star or above monster from Yugi's deck. Seto chose Slifer the Sky Dragon. Yugi then activated Exchange, taking Slifer back. Seto took a trap card called Shortened Life from Yugi's hand. Seto then set a card and ended his turn. Yugi then sacraficed his three knights to summon Slifer the Sky Dragon(5000/5000). Yugi knew that Seto would soon activated Shortened Life(Shortened Life forces a player to discard cards from their hand equal to the number of turns Shortened Life has been face down on the field). Yugi then attacked XYZ Dragon Cannon with Slifer, but Seto activated Emergency Teleporter, teleporting XYZ Dragon Cannon away from the attack.
As Seto's turn began, Lightoforce Sword expired, sending Obelisk back to Seto's hand. Seto then sacraficed XYZ Dragon Cannon to summon Obelisk the Tormentor. Now that both players had their God cards on the field, it was anyone's duel.
