Meanwhile on the blimp, Serenity was sitting by Mai's side. She remembered when Mai, Duke, and Tristin had taken her to the Domino Pier when Yugi and Joey were duelling each other. Mai had told her how sweet and kind her brother was and how she should be proud of Joey. Serenity told the unconscious Mai that Joey was fighting for her. Elsewhere on the blimp, Ishizu stood over the bed where Odion lay. She began to think about how the whole tradegy had started after Odion had fallen unconscious.
"She remembered the say when she took Marik outside. When they had come back, Yami Marik had sent Mr. Ishtar to the shadow realm. The very next day, Marik and Odion had left the tomb. marik had taken the Millenium Rod with him. Ishizu had been alone then, so she tried to the Millenium Necklace. Ishizu then saw flashes of the events that were to take plcae at Battle City. She saw Seto kaiba getting Obelisk from her, Yami Bakura getting struck Slifer's attack, Odion getting hit by lightning, and Yami marik being unleashed. After that, she had wondered if those images were only the beginning.
A couple of days after Ishizu ahd first tried on the Millenium Necklace, Slifer and Ra were stolen. Marik and his rare hunters then tried to steal Obelisk from a Egyptian Museum, but when they opened the safe all they found was Ishizu. The guards of the museum then surrounded Marik and his group of rare hunters. Marik just laughed and rendered all the guards unconscious with his Millenium Rod. Marik then greeted his sister, then asking her how she became a high ranking Egyptian official. The two siblings argued for sometime about Marik's mission to become pharoah. Marik reminded his sister about how they had suffered because of Yami.
Ishizu then told her brother that she would never stop trying to stop Marik's plan.The wall behind marik then exploded. As the smoke cleared, Ishizu saw that Marik and all his rare hunters had disappeared. She then saw Marik on the back of a motorcycle with Odion in front of him, driving. Marik then told Ishizu that he would soon have Obelisk. Odion then drove off with Marik, followed by all the rare hunters. Ishizu then wondered to herself whether Odion was following Marik just to keep Yami Marik at bay."
Back on the blimp, Ishizu knew that she could only wait for Yami Yugi and Yugi to save her brother. Back at the duel, Yami Marik had become impatient after hearing Seto and Yugi argue. He told them to continue with the duel, and starts thinking of how he can get rid of Kaiba and Joey to duel the pharoah. He played one card face down, and then summoned Lord of Poison in attack mode, and finally switched Newt Warrior into attack mode. His Newt Warrior attacked Seto's Vorse Raider next. Seto started wondering why Marik was attacking a stronger monster, but anyway decided to counter-attack. The monster broke free of Yugi's chains and destroyed Marik's Newt Warrior.
Yami Marik smiled and said that when his Newt Warrior went to the graveyard, it could destroy one monster. Ymai Marik then chose Vorse Raider, and it exploded. Yami Marik explained that he loses 700 life points because Newt Warrior was sent to the graveyard, but he then played Spell of Hate. With that card, he sent all of the damage to Joey(Joey's LP: 3300). Joey gets worried that he may be the first to drop out, but Tea and Duke comforted him, telling him that 700 life points was nothing.
Yugi started his turn next, and sacrificed Big Sheild Gardna to summon Beast of Gilfer. He ordered it to attack Kaiba, but Kaiba activated Luring Attack Armor, that would send the attack to another monster. Kaiba looked at Joey, but Joey pointed out that he had no monster on the fiel. Aware of this, Kaiba attacked Marik's Lord of Poison. Yami Marik activated Mirror Force to send the attack back to Gilfer, but Yugi activated Seven Tools of the Bandit, crosiing out Mirror Force's effect (Yami Marik's LP: 3300).
Yami Marik's platform is lowered, but he commented to Yugi that Seven Tools of the Bandit needed a sacrifice of 1000 life points. Yugi's platform is lowered to the 3000 point mark on the wall, and Kaiba gets angry that Yugi is wasting all of his life points in order to duel Joey in the semi-finals.
Joey drew Gearfried the Iron Knight(1800/1800) and summoned it. Joey saw that neither Yugi or Kaiba had a monster or magic/trap on the field, and ordered Gearfried to attack Kaiba. Kaiba's life points go down to 2200, and is sent to the higher then Yugi, Marik, and Joey. Yugi wondered why Joey didn't attack Marik and maybe it was because of Mai. Joey sets a card face down, and ends his turn.
Kaiba drew a card, and decided to spare Joey. He set 3 cards face down, and summoned Blade Knight, and ordered it to attack Yami Marik directly(Yami Marik's LP: 1700). Kaiba told Yugi that they will duel and show everybody a real battle of the gods.
