Meanwhile, an announcement informs the other duelists that the next round will take place the next day, once they have landed. Joey is glad to be able to get off the blimp, and is enjoying the fact that he could make it through the finals. He wanted his rematch with Yugi. Getting ready to go to bed, the gang decide to visit Mai's room, but they are found by Ishizu first.
Serenity tells everyone that Mai has had no change in condition, but Joey is furious and wants to teach Yami Marik a lesson. Serenity reminds Joey not to be angry, for it was Mai's anger that distracted her in the duel. Serenityis irritated that the world has been full of hatred ever since she took off her bandages, bu Ishizu informs the group the Marik only became like that after receiving the Tomb Kepper's initiation.
Ishizu explains that their is a dark presence controlling Marik at the movement, and hopes that she can save her brother, but meanwhile tells Yugi what happened.
" The Ishtar family lived in secrecy, guarding the pharoah's tomb for 5000 years, and after taking part in the Tomb Kepper's initiation, Marik bore the secrets of the pharoah and was therefore forbidden from leaving the tomb. However, he yearned to see what life was like on the surface and begged Ishizu to show him the world. Reluctant to go against the tribe's rules, Ishizu was eventually persuaded by her brother after Odion promised to cover for them. Ishizu's brother agreed that he woulf stay out for no longer than an hour, and Odion used pillows to pad out thwir beds.Marik was amazed by the sunlight, but Ishizu did not know the consequences ahead in store for them. As they made their way into town, Marik was astounded by everything he saw, especially a magazine picture of a motorcycle. Marik was then intrigued by a television and asked Ishizu what the two things were. Although he had only seen a picture of the motorcycle, Marik wanted one and became bitter that he was a Tomb Keeper and would never have one.
Ishizu realized that Marik had seen too much, so she persuaded him to gio back to the tomb. However, Marik begged to keep the picture of the motorcycle. Ishizu agreed as long as he hid it. As they headed back towards the tomb, they were stopped by Shadi. Shadi told them that they should prepare for the pharoh's return. Ishizu feared that her brother would grow evil since it was against the tomb keeper's code to see light. Seeing light would cause him to hate his life.
Back in the tomb, Marik straddled onto on of the stone wall life it was a motorcycle. However, Ishizu and Marik realised that the covers of marik's room had been ripped off. They feared that Odion was in trouble. Thery found Odion being punished by Marik's father who was using the Millenium Rod. Furious that his children had betrayed him, Mr. Ishtar was determined to punish Odion for his children's insolence. Before he could do anything else, Yami Marik took over Marik's body. Yami Marik then claimed the Millenium Rod for himself. He sent Mr. Ishtar into a wall. Ishizu tried to stop her brother, but Yami marik then used the rod to psuh her back too. Ishizu realised that her brother was being controlled by a dark spirit. Yami Marik then sent Mr. Ishtar to the shadow realm.
Yami Marik prepared to send Odion to the shadow realm too, but then Marik came to his senses, regaining control of his body. Marik didn't no what had happened. Shadi then visited Marik, telling him to stop on the road to ultimate darkness and to start preparing for the pharoh's return."
Having have heard Ishizu's story, Yugi realised that Yami Marik fed on Marik's anger. However, Joey was still determined to make Marik pay for what he did to Mai. Ishizu told Yugi that he may be the only one to free her brother from Yami Marik's wrath. However, the intercom then said that lights would be turned off in two minutes. Tristin planned to stay in Joey's room, but Joey was not so happy about this. Joey told Yugi good night, since it was likely that one of them would be duelling Marik the next day. Joey was horrified when Serenity suggested that the two friends may end up duelling each other. While part of the gang headed towards their rooms, Ishizu gave her Millenium Necklace to Yugi, telling him that it was useless to her now.
Worried about Yugi, Tea asked Ishizu if the world would be safe once Marik had been defeated. Ihsizu told tea that she did not know and that Yami Yugi would have to find his own answers. Tea was then taken over by Marik, who wanted to return the Millenium Ring to Bakura. Back at his room, Yugi was worried about the upcoming confrontation with Yami Marik. Yami told Yugi that it would be all right. Yugi was still not convinced, worried that the heart of the cards may not be enough to win.
Meanwhile, Yami Marik had gone to Odion's room to send him to the shadow realm for good. Yami Bakura then entered the room. Yami Marik sensed Yami Bakura's presence along with Marik's spirit inside Bakura's body. Yami Bakura informed Yami Marik that he was here to take Marik's body back. Yami Bakura explained that Marik had promised him the Millenium Rod if he defeated Yami Marik. Yami Marik made fun of Yami Bakura's goal to collect all seven Millenium Items. However, Yami Bakura then used his ring to stop Yami Marik in his tracks. Demanding the Millenium Rod, Yami Bakura was intrigued that Yami Marik offered to duel for the Millenium Items. As they made their way to the top of the blimp, Yami Marik explained that the winner would claim the Millenium Rod while the loser would be sent to the shadow realm. As the arena prepared itself, the two duellists prepared for the shadow game of their lives.
