As Yugi's turn began, Red-Eye's's attack went up to 900. Yugi realised that he now only had 14 minutes, so he set two cards and then summoned Beta the Magnet Warrior in attack mode. Yugi ended his turn. Joey then summoned Panther Warrior. Marik ordered Joey to finish the duel by destroying Yugi's Red-Eyes, but instead Joey ordered Rocket Warrior to attack Beta in invincible mode. Yugi activated Magic-Arm Shield, using Panther Warrior as a shield for Beta. Attrition lowered Panther Warrior's attack to 500 and then Rocket Warrior's effect lowered to to 0. Yugi realised that Joey was not obeying Marik.
Meanwhile, Tristin, Serenity and Duke were still trying to find Joey. Duke suggested that the rare hunters might have attacked Joey too. Tristin got mad at Duke for upsetting Serenity. Tristin then decided to find a duellist who knew where the finals were. Back at the pier, Joey's Panther Warrior's attack went to 500 as he ended his turn. Yugi sacraficed Beta to summon Beast of Gilfar. The Beast of Gilfar attacked Rocket Warrior and destroyed it(Joey's LP:1700). Yugi hoped that the attack would have freed Joey, but there were only 10 minutes left. Meanwhile, Tristin were made because none of the duellists they had found had 6 locator cards. Tristin was then jealous to see Duke holding Serenity's hand, so he broke them apart. The rare hunters then saw them and started chasing them. Tristin told Duke to run with Serenity while he handled the thugs. Duke and Serenity ran and almost got hit by a blue car. The driver of the car was sympathetic after Serenity told her what was going on.
With only 10 minutes left to duel, Marik reminded everyone that Tea was safe as long as no one interfered with the duel. Back in town, Tristin had beaten up the rare hunters. He learned that Joey was at the docks. The blue car came by with Serenity and Duke, but Tristin was even more suprised that the driver was Mai Valentine. Mai told Tristin to climb in and he did. Tristin told Mai what was going on. Mai explained that the thugs were called rare hunters and that they hunted rare cards. Mai told the three that they were probably after Yugi's and Joey's rare cards. As the car continued to head towards the location of the finals, Tristin told Mai to head towards the docks since Joey was there. Mai made and u-turn and headed towards the docks.
Back at the duel, Marik was pleased that Joey had drawn Skull Dice. However, there were only 8 minutes left for Yugi to free Joey. Yugi reminded Joey about Duellist Kingdom and his sister. Joey started to remember the promise he made to Yugi about defeating Marik. Even though Joey was remembering, Marik still had control over him. Joey set two cards and ended his turnn. Yugi ordered Beast of Gilfar to attack Panther Warrior, but Joey activated Graceful Dice and Skull Dice. Yugi activated De-Spell, countering Graceful Dice. Skull Dice rolled a 2, bu that wasn't enough to stop the Beast of Gilfar from destroying Panther Warrior(Joey's LP:1100). At this time, Mai, Duke, Tristin, and Serenity arrived at the docks. They asked what was going on, so Mokuba explained what had happened so far. Serenity knew that her brother was in trouble, so she moved her hands to take her bandages off, but as she did, Tea told her to stop. Serenity stopped. Mai reassured that everything would be all right. With a large crowd of friends gathered around the duel, Marik wanted to make sure that his mind slave crushed Yugi. Joey then drew Meteor of Destruction, so Marik was sure that the duel was over.
