As Yugi drew a card, Pegasus attempted to read it, but he wasn't able to because of Yugi's friends. Pegasus was shocked that the three friends had managed to enter the shadow realm, but Yami explained that Yugi and his friends' bond of friendship was so great that it could withstand anything. Yami then played Mystic Box and switched the Dark Magician's place with Jigan Bakudan. Dark Magician returned to his side of the field. Pegasus passed his turn. Yami then drew and activated Brain Control, taking over Relinquished. Pegasus was shocked, but he realized that Jigan Bakudan would explode at the end of the turn and destroyed Yugi's Dark Magician. Yami was not finished yet, because he flipped the card Yugi had set. The card was the Dark Magic Ritual, which allowed him to sacrafice a monster to summon a powerful spellcaster. Yami sacraficed the Dark Magician and Jigan Bakudan and summoned the Magician of Black Chaos.
Pegasus was shocked by the powerful monster, but he was determined to use it against Yugi. However, Yugi set a monster and a card face down. Relinquished returned to Pegasus's side of the field. Pegasus knew that Yugi had already planned to counter his assimilation of the Magician of Black Chaos, but Pegasus was not through yet. Pegasus activated Polymerization and fused Relinquished with Thousand-Eyes Idol to create Thousand-Eyes Restrict. Pegasus was sure that his new monster would win the duel for him. Pegasus activated his monster's special effect, paralyzing Yami's monsters and then sucking them in. As Thousand-Eyes Restrict began to suck in Yami's monsters, Yami flipped over his Kuriboh and activated Multiply. All the Kuriboh were sucked in and they began to self-destruct, destroyed the Thousand-Eyes Restrict's eyes. Thousand-Eyes Restrict was weakened and blinded. Magician of Black Chaos then attacked and destroyed Thousand-Eyes Restrict, wiping out the rest of Pegasus's life points.
Shocked that he lost, Pegasus knew he had failed his quest to revive his wife. As the shaodw realm began to fade away, Yugi's friends could sense Yugi. Once the shadow realm had completely disappeared, Yugi was back along with Yami. Releived that the quest was finally over, the four friends turned to where Pegasus should have been, but saw nobody. As they began to track down Pegasus, they asked Bakura to look after Mokuba. As the four headed off, they did not realize that Yami Bakura still controled Bakura and that he planned to take Pegasus's Millenium Eye.
