With threee minutes left, Joey was still unable to find his card. Croquet told Keith that if he wasn't only the duelling platform, he would be disqualified too. Keith got up and complained about disturbing him. Yugi considered offering Joey his card, but then yugi wouldn't be able to duel Pegasus.
With one minute to go, Keith was so confident that Joey wouldn't show up that he told the gang that Joey probably lost his card on purpose because he was scared to duel Keith. Yugi told Keith that he was wrong and that Joey would never give up. Meanwhile Joey had given up his search. Having lost his only chance ti save Serenity, he started crying. Mai arrived and told him to sop crying. Mai then gave Joey a hanky to wipe his eyes with. As Mai turned to leave, she told Joey that he was always suprising her, explaining that she knew all about Serenity. While using the hanky, Joey noticed Mai's Glory of the King's Hand card inside it. He thanked her. Mai told Joey that she didn't need it anyway since she already lost. Joey asked if they were friends, but Mai ignored her and told him to take down Keith. As Joey left, Mai admitted to herself that they were finally friends.
As Joey made it back to the arena, Keith mocked him, confident that Joey was disqualified. Joey then revealed the card Mai gave him. Keith was shocked. Since both duellists had a playoff card, Croquet allowed the match to begin. Keith warned Joey that he will easily win and that Joey was just a warm up on his way to duel Pegasus.
Keith started the duel by setting a monster face down. Joey did the same during his turn. Keith then switched his monster into attack mode. His monster was Pendulum Machine. Pendulum Machine then destroyed Joey's face down monster. Joey then summoned Giltia the Dark Knight and attacked, but the blast which should have destroyed it was deflected away. Keith informed Joey that his machine monsters could withstand magical attacks. Keith then summoned Launcher Spider and destroyed Giltia(Joey's LP:1650).
Joey then set a trap card and a monster. Keith then set a card a card. As he set a monster in defence mode, he accidently(purposely) revealed his card. The card was Zoa. Joey was pleased by the mistake, but Keith wanted Joey to attack it. Joey then summoned his Flame Swordsman and equipped it with Salamandra. Flame Swordsman attacked. At this time Yugi realized that Keith purposely showed Joey the Zoa. As Flame Swordsman attacked, Keith activated Magic Metal Force(in the tv show Magic Metal Force is the actual name of the card, but the the actual card game it is called Metalmorph). Magic Metal Force transformed Zoa into Metal Zoa and deflected ther attack(Joey's LP:1150). Keith then played Stop Defense to reveal Joey's Axe Raider. Keith attacked it with Metal Zoa, but Joey activated Chasm of Spikes(Keith's LP:1250). Joey then set a card and told Keith that it was a trap. Joey then switched Axe Raider into defence mode and summoned Garoozis. Garoozis then destroyed Pendulum Machine(Keith's LP:1200).
Not fooled by Joey's bluff, Keith attacked with his Launcher Spider, but Joey activated Kunai With Chain. Keith was shocked that Joey had tricked him again(Keith's LP:1100). As Joey taunted Keith, the inter-continental champion warned Joey that there were still plenty of powerful machines in his deck left and that the real fun would soon begin.
