Yugi played Brain Control and took over Harpie's Pet Dragon. Yugi then set a card and summoned Catapult Turtle. Yugi lauched Harpie's Pet Dragon right at Mai's Harpie Lady, destroying Mirror Wall and Harpie's Pet Dragon(Mai's LP:850). Fearing Yugi's face down card, Mai then played Elegant Egotist and multiplied her Harpie Lady. As Yugi's turn began, he told her that she shoudl have attacked and won the duel. Mai to,d yugi that she wasn't going to fall for Yugi's trap, but then Yugi revealed his Monster Recovery card, Catapult Turtle was returned to his hand and Yugi drew an all new hand. Yugi then set a monster. Mai's Shadow of Eyes card activated, but it was unable to lure Yugi's monster into attack mode because Yugi's monster(Mystical Elf) was a female. Mai then played Monster Reborn and reborned Harpie's Pet Dragon. Harpie Lady Sisters then destroyed the Mystical Elf.
With only one card left to save the duel, Yugi began to lose faith in himself. Yami helped him and together they drew Swords of Revealing Light. They played it, trapping Mai's monsters for three turns. Yami told Yugi that there was only one way to win and that was to use the Black Luster Ritual. Yugi then summoned Kuriboh. Mai was amazed that Yugi played such a weak monster, but he warned her not to understimate it. Mai then drew and ended her turn. Yugi then played Monster Reborn and reborned Gaia the Fierce Knight. Yugi had only two turns left to draw the Black Luster Ritual. Mai passed her turn and Yugi did the same. Mai the drew another Harpie Lady. She thought to herself that next turn she would summon it and destroy Yugi for good. At this time, Pegasus realized Yugi's strategy and is astounded by it. Mai then ended her turn and Swords faded away.
As Yugi prepared to draw the deciding card, Yugi began to doubt whether it was right to risk the lives of his friends and family on the draw of one card. Yami told Yugi that they were in it together. Inside Yugi's head, Yugi, Yami, Tea, Tristin, Joey, and Bakura all drew the final card together. Pegasus was shocked at the power Yugi was emitting. Yugi then revealed the final card, the Black Luster Ritual. Yugi activated it. Yugi sacraficed both his monsters, allowing their powers of light and darkness to merge and open the Gates of Chaos. The Black Luster Soldier then appeared and attacked Mai's Pet Dragon. Mai's Pet Dragon was destroyed(Mai's LP:750). Everybody was shocked, including Mai. Mai's spirit was broken by the attack. Unable to revive it again, Mai layed her hand on her deck and forfeited the match.
As Mai turned to leave, Yugi thanked her for helping him face his fears. Mai admitted that she still has a lot to learn and warns Yugi that they will meet again. Even then, Yugi still must win one more duel to duel Pegasus and save his grandpa. Will he be able to do it?
