The Heart of the Cards
Long ago, when the pyramids were still young, Egyptian kings played a game of great and terrible power. But these "Shadow Games" erupted into a war that threatened to destroy the entire world, until a brave and powerful pharoh locked the magic away, imprisoning it within the mystical millenium items. Now, 5000 years later, a boy named Yugi unlocks the secret of the Millenium Puzzle. He is infused with ancient magical energies, for destiny has chosen him to defend the world from the return of the Shadow games, just as the brave pharoh did 5000 years ago.
Yugi and his friend Joey are dueling at school and their driend Tea is watching. During the duel, Joey told Tristin, another friend, that Yugi is teaching him to play Duel Monsters, a popular card game. Yugi is a master at the game, while Joey is only a begginer. Joey tells Yugi that Yugi is only really good because his grandpa owns the only game shop in town. Yugi then offered to take Joey, Tristin, and Tea to his grandpa's shop to see his rare card.
All of them arrived at the shop and after much persuasion they got Yugi's grandpa to show them his Blue-Eyes White Dragon, one of the most powerful cards in the game. At this time a man named Seto Kaiba walked in and saw the card. Seto Kaiba offered lots of money for the card, but Yugi's grandpa, Solomon Moto, refused and said that the card had been given to him by a friend and that he would never part from it.
That night, Seto Kaiba sent guards to Solomon's shop to escort him to the KaibaCorp building. In the morning Yugi gets a call that tells him that his grandpa is not feeling well. He and his friends rushed quickly to the KaibaCorp building. They find Solomon really weak. Seto was their as well and told Yugi that they had dueled and bet their rarest cards. Solomon had lost. Seto then showed Solomon's Blue-Eyes White Dragon to Yugi. Seto then ripped up the card. Yugi's Millenium Puzzle transformed him into Yami and Yami challenged Seto to a duel. Seto accepted. Before the duel began, Yugi and his friends made a pact of friendship. Tea and Tristin took Solomon to the hospitak, while Joey stayed behind and cheered Yugi.
Seto started the duel by summoning the Hitotsu-Me Giant in attack mode. Yugi suumoned Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #1 and destroyed Seto's giant. Seto then summoned Saggi, the Dark Clown in attack mode. He used Negative Energy and destroyed Yugi's dragon. Yugi set a monster. Seto destroyed it with Saggi. Yugi then summoned Gaia the Fierce Knight and destroyed Seto's clown. Seto then summoned his Blue-Eyes White Dragon and destroyed Gaia the Fierce Knight. Yugi was shocked to see this card. Yugi went on the defensive. Seto was able to sumon his second Blue-Eyes. Yugi then used Swords of Revealing Light. Seto summoned Judge Man in attack mode and destroyed Yugi's Feral Imp. Yugi summoned Dark Magician and destroyed Seto's Judge Man. Seto then summoned his third and final Blue-Eyes. Blue-Eyes destroyed the Dark Magician. Then the Swords of Revealing Light faded, releasing Seto's other two dragons.
Winning seemed hopeless for Yugi. Yugi noticed that the cards in his hands were like pieces of a puzzle. Seto then told him that his grandpa's deck was pitiful. Yugi told Seto that he was wrong. He put all his faith into the Heart of the Cards and drew the Exodia the Forbidden One. He summoned the mighty Exodia and destroyed Kaiba's dragons and won the duel. Yugi then used the power of his puzzle and banished the dark side of Seto Kaiba to the shadow realm. Meanwhile at the hospital, Yugi's grandpa had made full recovery.
