Note: Different computers play midi files w/ different sound sets, so I can’t guarantee that what you’re hearing is what I intended. If it sounds really badly balanced or if the voices don’t seem to mix together well, we’ll say it’s the computer’s fault, not mine.
I have actually converted many of the following into all-piano compositions since finding out how bad it can sound on some computers. All-piano is not always ideal, but on the other hand, most computers have a decent piano voice, and in fact sometimes going to all-piano seemed to add something to the work.
Anyway, the point is, even the ones listed as “complete” are very much works in progress.
Snippets and Themes
Arise—In which I try to maintain a “rising” feeling throughout w/out straying from the same area of the staff.
New Organ Song—An Organ Song which will be New once I finish writing it. Hope your computer plays a good voice for this organ.
Eight Bars—Eight Bars I hope will become a full piece sometime.
Please Forgive Theme—Passage from a song I was trying to write which felt somehow inspired by the line “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
Extended Snippets
Dream—I had a dream which had a soundtrack, and this is part of that soundtrack. This one might sound really bad depending on your midi voices, but it might sound decent.
Fun With Square Waves—Formerly known as “Violince” because it used to use string voices. Now it’s square waves.
A Song—Just a song I’m working on.
Sort of Completed-ish Songs
FMinor—A song in two movements in F Minor.
Midi #1—My first Midi Composition (except the one I lost a few years ago.) Needs some balance work since I converted it to all piano, esp. towards the end.. Kind of a frenetic piece.
GMinor—Can you guess what kind of song this might be? (I just listened and realized I forgot to convert one part to all-piano. I think it still probably should sound okay though on any computer.)
Polka You Face Out—I don’t know why it’s called what it’s called. This one used to be lots of voices, now it’s all piano. I kind of like it this way, actually. Needs a few changes though, since I switched to piano.
Spooky Song in Weird Key—Hope the voice your computer plays sounds decent. (I just listened and realized that for some reason two notes (including the last one in the song) which are supposed to be held out in a fermata are not being held out. I have tried correcting and re-saving but to no avail. So… when you hear a note that seems to end inappropriately abruptly, that’s the computer, not me.)
