Koleduvane

Christmas Carol singing is a nationwide custom similar to the survakane. The koledari (carol singers) also visit the houses with wishes for health and prosperity, and the owner of the house gives them money. Their dress and ornaments differ from region to region. They carry a koledarka - a long oak stick, richly carved. This is an extremely colorful folklore custom - songs, blessings, and dances. The koledari perform on Christmas Eve, survakari on New Year's Day. Not too many people still perform this custom but in the small towns you still can see it.
