| Palm, Inc. is one of the leaders in mobile computing and aims to provide the power of computing into the hands of its customers. There customers range from consumers to businesses, in which the products available include Palm handheld computers, Palm Treo smartphones, as well as software and accessories. There products come prepared with Personal Information Management (PIM) software, beaming capabilities, calculators, games and much more. The wide range of products available provide everything necessary for anyone to become organized in there busy lives. The company started out in 1992 as Palm, the leader in handheld computing and leading the way in wireless Internet solutions. They soon introduced the Pilot 1000 and Pilot 5000, handheld organizers which set off the computing revolution. In 1997 Palm introduced the PalmPilot Professional and PalmPilot Personal models. That same year Palm combined with the company 3Com Corp. and two years later, in September of 1999, 3Com announced that they were making Palm an independent company. Along with Palm.Net service, Palm introduced the Palm VII and provided wireless access to the Internet. Palm, Inc. became official on March 2, 2000. In November of 2000 Palm and IBM joined forces to bring mobile e-business solutions and in 2002 they enter into a reseller agreement. In September of 2002 Palm initiated a new line, the Tungsten and Zire handheld products. They were introduced to provide solutions for mobile work forces and affordable options for individuals to get organized. The needs of businesses and individuals are clearly different and in order for Palm to accommodate to both, the creation of the two different lines of handhelds was essential. Palm, Inc. is constantly changing and improving its products along with the vast improvements in technology that are constantly arising, giving it a competitive advantage. Unlike an ordinary cell phone or desktop computer, Palm handheld computers and smartphones are capable of much more, such as creating and editing Word and Excel documents, they are compact and light weight making them convenient to carry any time, but still have all of the essentials of your office at hand. To grab prospective buyers, Palm launched a print campaign for the Fall/Winter, 2003. The ads were designed for those who want fun features and additional functions added to the already equipped handhelds. The message being conveyed was the ability to simplify everyday life. Palm has many handheld products available, each designed to fit different needs. They are virtually an office on the go, making it easy to manage addresses, lists and appointments. Along with being easily available to order online, these handheld computers are affordable with an unbelieveable amount of feature and capabilities. There smooth and simple design makes them easy to use for anyone and with a large front display, making up the majority of the front of the handheld, they are very easy to read. |
