RICKY AND GRAMMA
He is just a kid, some people might say. But people who know and love him know there is so much more to Ricky.
Ricky was Grammas' favorite. Ricky would stay with her for a week or two at a time. Gramma was so proud of everything he did, she always bragged about him.
Ricky and Gramma would pray and read the Bible together, and he's never forgotten how important those times were to him.
Gramma had sheep, and Ricky loved to help her with the feeding of them. He was the only one in the family that loved her sheep the way she did.
He stayed with Gramma and helped her when she was sick; the rest of the family had jobs and couldn't be there. She would get upset with him sometimes and he just accepted it as being cranky because of her not feeling good.
Ricky had some special times with Gramma, like the last year he helped her put up the Christmas tree. He loves Christmas and that was a special treat for him. No one loves the pretty Christmas lights like Ricky.
Gramma has been gone for a year now and we all miss her terribly, but even though we all loved her, I think Ricky suffered the most when she left us. His Gramma meant the world to him, and it's been hard for him to get past the grief.
But he will, Gramma would want him to be happy.
One day, I have no doubt, Ricky will be reunited with his beloved Gramma in Heaven. I know the words of the Bible and the prayers they prayed together will be a part of his life that won't leave him. He is just a kid now, but someday, I'll bet he tells his kids about the times he spent with his Gramma. And maybe, just maybe, someday he'll be the kind of Grandpa that his grandkids will love as much as he loved Gramma. .......... .
