Buddha's life extension refused for upsetting Law of Karma and rebirth

One day the Buddha addressed Ven. Ananda and said: " Ananda. whoever has fully developed the four paths of accomplishment namely: iddapada – could if he desires, remain in the same birth for a Kappa and a little more. Now Thathagatha has thoroughly practiced and developed them and he could, therefore, should he desire it, live on yet for another Kappa or for a Kappa and a little more." A Manual of Buddhism" by Ven. Narada quotes Buddha as saying (Chapter 10: Buddha’s Parinibbana). Here Kappa means at least some  5000 years or more.

But the book adds that Ven. Ananda could not comprehend the meaning of this statement of Buddha as his heart was possessed by the Evil One. He did not beseech the Buddha to remain a Kappa and little more.  (Evil one means Maya or Satan.

There was a famous Yogi named Babaji of whom details were given by Paramashansa Yogananda in his "Autobiography of an Yogi." The God-man Babaji has been living over thousands of years in the great Himalayas. Marshal Govindan of Montreal who wrote: "Babji and 18 Sidha Kriya Yoga tradition’ says in 1989 he was inspired by Babaji, himself to write a book to introduce to the world the glory and greatness of 18 Sidha yoga tradition from which Babji synthesized and revived his Kriya Yoga techniques. Babji definitely would have received his deathlessness from Almighty God and no one.

For the second and third time the Buddha made the same statement, still the Ven. Ananda was silent." This shows Buddha really wanted to extend his life for which he expected some initiation or other,  from ven. Ananda.

"When the Ven. Ananda left him, Mara (Satan) supposedly approached the Buddha and invited him to pass away.

"The Buddha supposedly replied: "O Evil one.! Make thyself happy. The death of Thathagatha shall take place before long. At the end of three months, from this time, the Thathagatha will pass away."  No body was present at that time in Buddha's room to tell about it later.

"Buddha and His teachings" of Narada adds that Buddha at a later occasion, announced to Venerable Ananda that he would pass away in three months time. Then, Ven. Ananda instantly recalled the saying of the Buddha on this matter on an earlier occasion and besought him to remain for a Kappa.

In other words, Ven. Anand begged of Buddha to live for a Kappa for the good and happiness of all. ‘Enough Ananda beseech not the Tathagatha. Time for making such a request is now past’ was the Buddha’s reply, says the Manual of Buddhism of Ven. Narada.

 In this whole episode is very clear that Buddha was quite interested in getting his life extended.  After Ananda leaving Buddha, Mara or Maya or Satan who was representing Almighty Nature (God) came there and asked him to expire which he could not deny. That was how the record goes on. In other words, he told  Buddha point blank that Almighty Nature wanted him pass away. (I appeal to those who are interested in Buddhism to spend sometime  on meditation following Buddha's footsteps to understand the reality.)

Almighty Nature conferred on Buddha  extremely important powers after reaching Buddhahood, for his undergoing severe extreme penance (Aththkilamathanu Yoga) earlier. One such is to cancel sins and enlighten anybody whomsoever, of course after aspirant undergoing some austerities like meditations and fasting etc. Buddha abused this power by canceling the sins of killers like Angulimala responsible for deaths of over thousands of innocent men and women. Laws of Karma and rebirth should see this dastardly abominable criminal taking ten fifteen births suffering for the sins committed. Because of Buddha abusing his powers in respect of Angulimala and saw to it that Karmic law does not overtake him, instead he got him enlightened freeing from shackles of Karma and rebirth. There were thousand times more suitable persons than Angulimala whom Buddha ignored. In short, almost all others who existed  at that time were better candidates to get enlightened than Angulimala. There were at least 500 persons got enlightened through Buddha's intervention who otherwise would never ever have done so as do the present day Buddhism professors and Buddhist monks.

On one hand it may be a good example for the sinners to take to Buddhism but through Anglulimala episode, Buddha completely upset the entire law of Karma and rebirth and that made Almighty God giving him no extension of life. Buddha  never had any obligation to listen to Mara and agreed to die, as Narada's 'Manuals of Buddhism' tries to mislead and  if he agreed to the wishes of Mara  or Satan,  it amounts to a wrong example. There is no reason why Buddha takes the word of Mara, had it not been for his representing Almighty God hmself. Hence, God never extended the life of Buddha, allowing only to remain the allotted period.

Babaji  of whom referred to  earlier has lived for thousands of years in Himalayas directing sages to do various jobs but rarely helped ordinary people to achieve God-realization. Because they have to pay for their Karmas.

 In Israel, it is known that their King Hezekiah’s life was extended by Almighty God. To quote 2 Kings 20 : 1- in the Bible: "In these days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isiah, the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him: ‘Thus says God: ‘Set your house in order for you shall die and not live.’

Then he turned his face toward the wall and prayed to God saying: ’Remember now Oh God, I pray, how I have worked before you in truth and with a loyal heart and have done what was good in Your sight’ Hezekiah wept bitterly. Then it happened before Isiah had gone into the middle court that word of the God came into him saying ‘Return and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people Thus says the God, the God of David Your father. I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Surely, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of God. And I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city for my own sake and for the sake of my servant David."

Adi Shankaracharya, responsible for introducing Almighty God into Buddhism was allocated with life span of 16 years. He was supposed to accomplish the entire mission entrusted to him within that 16 years in addition to getting enlightenment. Later it was increased by another 16 years (total 32 years.) That was also because he could not accomplish his work within the first allotted period. However, Shankara was not interested in the increase of his life as Buddha did.

According to legends, his parents underwent penance for years praying to God to give them a child. Finally God appeared to them and gave them an option. There would be a child who leads a normal life and does good things and live normal life span. But there was another whose work would be so great that he would be revered for centuries. But his life span would only be 16 years. Parents opted for the second.

Shankara whose life span being 16 years, achieved enlightenment during early childhood and launched an unceasing campaign moving into the past present and future at will keeping some connection with his mother. However, he could not complete his mission before reaching sixteen years of age and therefore God granted him another 16 year period.

 On February 21, 1946,  I was born and am now 59 +. My life span was doubled by Almighty God, 05 days ago at 09.30 pm on November 26, 2005 in order that I may live little less than 120 years but of course on certain conditions.

Mara or Satan is created by Almighty God to test the suitability of aspirants before granting them enlightenment, boons etc. etc. and also to do certain matters God himself would not directly involve. If Almighty God dislikes Satan’s presence, he would have been immediately snuffed out. There is a interesting conversation between Satan and Almighty God found in the book of Job in the Bible.
6 "One day the angels [a] came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan [b] also came with them. 7 The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?"
      Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it."

 8 Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."

 9 "Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied. 10 "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. 11 But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."

 12 The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger."
      Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

 13 One day when Job's sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house, 14 a messenger came to Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby, 15 and the Sabeans attacked and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one left to tell you the story."

Further tests went on. For that one should read "Job" in the Bible.

Buddha never had the power of extending the life of others nor did he make any request on their behalf to Almighty God. When Patachara came with her dead children he could not extend the life of them because Buddha did not want to make a request to God on that hoping to  ask for a extension of life for himself at latter stages. But history gives ample proof of Jesus Christ as well as lot of Biblical and Hindu and Muslim sages extending the life of dead people by appealing to God. Large number of Christian pastors of course before the death pray for the sick persons and got deadly diseases cured which otherwise would have killed them. It means again extension of allotted life. 

It was the Almighty Nature that gave Buddha his life span of 80 years. He has no power of his own to extend it.

Bhagavad Gita 7:26 Almighty God says: "Arjuna, I know clearly and fully everything regarding all the creatures that were, are and will be. But none knows anything about me."

Now, I would tell you a story, a true important story in order to understand God and more than all how he extend life of others. Within as period of one year preceding August 21, 1999, a few army personnel came to a house of a Christian pastor in a remote province of Congo and wanted to kill the pastor and his family for doing kingdom ministry work.

Immediately after collecting all the family members, they were lined up to be shot dead. But the pastor’s son requested the soldiers to give them two three minutes to thank God and make final prayer to their God before their death. The request was granted. Then the victims sank to their knees and started praying which went on for three four minutes. When they opened up their eyes and turned back after praying, they found the soldiers who were pointing their guns at them. were missing, So they gratefully thanked God and resumed their normal life.

After about two months or so this particular pastor went to a nearby church to give a sermon. There the pastor told this story to the congregation, explaining how miraculously they escaped death as a result of praying to their God in their hour of need.

 Then one person in that congregation got up to admit that he was one of the army personnel who came to shoot them dead, adding: "What happened was, while they were praying, fire fell from the sky and that frightened them making them flee from the scene. Having gone some 150 to 200 meters away from the pastor’s house, they looked back to see that the pastor’s house was on fire, resulting in their becoming more and more frightened, making them hurry out of the area soon."

After this incident he who came to kill the pastor and his family, naturally got interested in Christianity and started visiting a church. This story was told to the congregation of Bethel Church, Dehiwala, Sri Lanka, by the pastor’s wife Indrani Kitto adding that the message was received by Email from a Christian mission in Canada, that week. I wondered if it happened to a Buddhist family, they would simply face death, without asking the help of God.

When I told this story to a Briton who was an elder among Jehovah’s Witnesses, he told me that it may be the Satan who saved them in order that the pastor could continue to misinterpret Christianity. I did not agree with that bullshit.

Even Mrs. Indrani Kitto, referred to earlier, was born one eye blind, a fact known to the entire church congregation. A judge of the Supreme Court Max Perera or some such Christian requested the people to come forward who wanted prayer support. So Mrs. Kitto went forward and Justice Perera prayed for her and she received immediate eye sight.

Even here the Christian pastor and his family members have received an extension of life after praying to God. Almight God can also give punishment for new sins and terminate the allotted life of the sinners.

Also there are millions of cases of patients got cured of very serious illnesses after praying to God. Even doctors advise condemned patients to resort to some kind of powerful prayer knowing of its efficacy. However, God do not like people who are coming to him at the last moment. Whenever some problem crops up, if one rushes to God before a Doctor even for a short while, God would like it.

When Assyrian king tried to attack Israel, God said that he would not allow that. To quote  II Kings 19:32-35 in the Bible:

"Therefore thus says God concerning the king of Assyria ‘He shall not come into this city nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with a shield nor build a siege mound against it.

By the way that he came, by the same shall he return and he shall not come into this city’ says the God. For I will defend this city to save it for my own sake and for my servant David’s sake.

And it came to pass on a certain night that the angel of God went out and put to death hundred and eighty five thousand (185,000) men in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up next morning, there were all dead bodies. So, Senacharib, king of Assyria broke the camp and withdrew".

"Assuredly I say to you all sins will be forgiven for sons of men whatever blasphemes they may utter. But he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, never has forgiveness but is subject to eternal condemnation." says (Mark 3:28) of the Bible.

Holy spirit, intelligence or consciousness embraces every area of creation. If any body commit blaspheme against Almighty God, that embraces every area of creation, would definitely be punished extremely seriously. In other words, their life would be ended almost immediately.

This is history which all the Jews and Arabs as well as historians know to be true.

To make the Biblical story short and what happened to the people namely Korah, Dathan Abiram and their company of 250 men women and children who went against God and how they were punished is quoted here (Numbers 16: 11) which says:

"Therefore you and your company are gathered together against God. And what is Aaron that you murmur against him.?"

They were really asking for priestly duties that Aaron and them were entrusted with by Almighty God himself. Those days, God interacted with Jewish people very closely.

Moses (Numbers 16: 16-35) said to Korah: "Tomorrow, you and all your company be present before God – you and they as well as Aaron

"Each of you take his censor and put incense on it and each of you bring his censor before God, two hundred and fifty censors you also and Aaron, each of you with his censor.

"So every man took his censor, put fire on it, laid incense on it and stood at the door of the tabernacle of meeting with Moses and Aaron. And Korah gathered entire congregation against them at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. Then the glory of the God appeared to entire congregation

"And Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron saying: "Separate yourself from among this congregation that I may consume them in a moment.

"Then they fell on their faces and said :"O’ Good God of spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin and you be angry with all the congregation.

So, God spoke to Moses saying:

"Speak to the congregation saying get away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.

Then Moses rose and went to Dathan and Abiram and the elders of Israel followed him. And he spoke to the congregation saying: " Depart now from the tents of this wicked men. Touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in their sin.

"So they got away from the tents of Korah Dathan and Abiram. Korah, Dathan and Abiram came out of their tents and stood at the door of their tents, with their wives, their sons and their little children.

"Then Moses said: "By this you shall know that God has sent me to do all this works, for I have not done them of my own will.

"If these men die naturally like all men or if they are visited by common fate of all men, then God has not sent me.

"But if God creates a new thing, and earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them and they go down alive into the pit, you would understand that these men have been rejected by God.

 "Then it came to pass as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them.

"And the earth opened up its mouth and swallowed them up with all their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods.

"So they and all these with them went down alive into the pit and earth closed over them and they perished from among the congregation.

"Then all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said: "Lest the earth swallow us up also.

"And the fire came down from God and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering incense."

Numbers; 16: 41 – 50 says thus: On the next day all the congregation of the Children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron saying : "You have killed the people of God.

"Now it so happened, when the congregation gathered against Moses and Aaron, that they turned towards the tabernacle of meeting and suddenly the cloud covered it and the glory of God appeared.

"Then Moses and Aaron came before tabernacle of meeting.

"And God spoke to Moses saying: Get away from among the congregation, that I may consume them in a moment." and they fell on their faces.

So Moses said to Aaron. Take a censor and put fire on it from the alter, put incense on it and take it quickly to the congregation and make a atonement for them for wrath has gone out from God. The plague has begun.

 "Then Aaron took it as Moses commanded and ran into the midst of the congregation and the plague has already begun among the people. So he put in the incense and made atonement for the people. And he stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped.

"Now those who died in the plague were fourteen thousand seven hundred besides those who died in the Korah incident.

"So, Aaron returned to Moses at the door of the tabernacle of meeting, for the plague had stopped."

But you can see God involved on behalf of people to the extent of even extending or terminating the life.

Really speaking God is not interested in anything. He has no ambition and has no plan and just being in bliss and sees that all his laws – laws of nature – inclusive of moral laws are enforced. Even for that too he has set in motion certain mechanism which enforces them.

Normally Nature allows for human being to live less than 150 years. However at the time of creation, according to Bible people lived often over 900 years.

To quote the Genesis 5:5 of the Bible: "So all the days that Adam lived were more than nine hundred and thirty years and he died." Genesis 5:8: "So all the days that Seth lived were more than nine hundred and twelve years and he died." Genesis 5:12: "So all the days that Enosh lived were more than nine hundred and five years and he died." Genesis 5:14: "So all the days that Cainan lived were more than nine hundred and ten years and he died."

Even Vishvamitra supposedly lived some thousands of years who may have received an extension of life as Babaji did.

At latter stages, Almighty Nature or Almighty God was quite unhappy over the progress of the mankind who went against the moral government of God. To quote the Bible in Genesis 6: 1- 3 " Now it came to pass when men began to multiply on the face of earth and daughters were born to them. That the sons of God saw the daughters of men, who were beautiful and they took wives for themselves, all of whom they choose. And God said "My spirit shall not strive with men forever, for he is indeed flesh yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years" So, God reduced the usual life span to some 120 years. However none have thereafter gone beyond 150.  
 

Bible’s Genesis 6: 5 - 8 says; "Then God saw the wickedness of the man was great in the earth and that every intent of the thought of his heart was only evil continually. God was sorry that he had made man on the earth and he was grieved in His heart. And God said: "I will destroy men whom I have created from the face of earth, both man and beast, creeping thing  and birds of the air for I am sorry that I have made them." 
 

So God sent floods to wipe off all the living beings from the face of earth taking steps to save Noah’s family, his sons etc. and those came to the Ark. All others died. This story was confirmed by Koran and Hindu Puranas. That world destruction took place somewhere around 5000 BC.

Bible story referring to Moses in Deuteronomy 34:10 said: " But since then there has not arisen in Israel, a prophet like Moses whom the God knew face to face." Moses who spoke to God face to face when all the Israelis saw it. Deuteronomy 34:7 says: "Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died." According to God’s word said earlier, life span of humans was reduced by the Almighty God. Moses died at His command. God ordered Moses thus in Deuteronomy 32:48-52: " Then God spoke to Moses on that very same day, saying "Go up this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the  land of Maob, across from Jericho, view the land of Canan which I give to the children of Israel as a possession and die on the mountain which you ascend and be gathered to your people just as Aaron your brother died on the Mount Hor and was gathered to his people;’ because you trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin because you did not hallow me in the midst of the children of Israel. You shall see the land before you, though you shall not go there into the land I am giving to the children of Israel.," Because, Moses did not defend Almighty God before the Children of Israel, he had to die at the prime age of 120 in spite of his being the most familiar man to Almighty God among Biblical saints. You would now realize that all deaths are in the hands of God and no one else.
