Nimble Squares and Oblong Lifestyles

She sprites awkwardly around on the bus
Being forced more askew
By bus law physics
Looking for a seat
Bubbling meekly
Like she was ashamed of her smile
She looks over her nerd glasses
And pierces me with beautiful blandness
Brown eyed beauty hidden securely in insecurity
In beige corduroys
A little too loose on her
She reminds me of hand me downs
The kind that never get worn
And I know that she's got Ginsberg in that bag of hers
She fits about as well in this world
As a cork fits in a thumbtack
And she likes to hate it that way
She's got a world of energy in there
Pent up
Under that cashmere
Under that skin she feels so uncomfortable in
She feels so oblong in a world of right angles
And square as hell in a garden of curves
And, God, I see that it makes her one of a kind
I want to say something to her
But I know she'll think I'm patronizing
No matter what I say
How do you tell someone who doesn't think she fits in
That no one has fit in your heart so perfectly?
