Literary Devices and Techniques
Character � the individuals who take part in the action of a story.
Main characters � characters that are the center of the most important events of the story.
Minor characters � less prominent characters.
Dynamic characters � a main character that undergoes a change as the plot unfolds.
Static characters � a main character that stays the same as the plot unfolds.
Setting � where the events of a story occur in a particular time or place.
Plot � refers to the chain of related events that take place in a story.
Exposition � the exposition lays the groundwork for the plot and provides the reader with essential background information. Characters are introduced, the setting is described, and the plot begins to unfold. Although the exposition generally appears at the opening of the story, it may also occur later in the narrative.
Inciting incident -
Rising action � as the story progresses, complications usually arise, causing difficulties for the main characters and making conflict more difficult to resolve. As the characters struggle to find solutions to the conflict, suspense builds.
Climax � the climax is the turning point of the action, the moment when interest and intensity reach their peak. The climax of a story usually involves an important event, decision, or discovery that affects the final outcome.
Falling action � the falling action consists of the events that occur after the climax.
Denouement � the phrase of the plot.
Theme � a theme is an important idea or message conveyed by a work of fiction
