Clara Barton,

Standing as I do, I realize that patriotism is not enough.  I must have no hatred or bitterness towards anyone, Germany or British.  This is my motto and I will stand behind it until the day I die.  Do you want a person to work for you who you can trust and have faith in?  Well I believe that I can be that person and thats why I am applying for a job as a nurse in the American Red Cross Society.
I believe that I would be qualified for the position as a nurse in your organization because I have a strong background of nursing and I have a great undying passion for it.  When I first realized that I had a passion for it, I was nursing my father back to health when he fell ill.  Ever since then I have been working in different hospitals around the area and also in private nursing homes but I never felt satisfied.  I love helping people and I feel like I can be more of a help in a bigger environment such as the American Red Cross Society.
I was also the leader of a pioneer training school for nurses and it gave me a great experience with other nurses and also in the training field.  Another amazing experience I had was during the war, serving in Belgium.  I helped aid the wounded in Belgium for quite some time and during the war, I new that this was what I wanted to do with my life.  I want to help people and I would very much appreciate it if you helped me live my dream.
I would love it and appreciate it if you or someone could contact me so we can set up an interview.  I am really looking forward to meeting you and showing you who I am.

Sincerely yours,
Edith Cavell
