Yvonne and her newborn daughter, Lavonna, March 17, 2002
Yvonne and I first met each other when we were about 4 years old, heh. Yes, nursery school buddies! :) Not that I remember a whole lot from back then, but we got along really well and played together all the time at school. After nursery school, Yvonne and I ended up going to two different grade schools and the friendship kind of ended at that point or so we thought... About 10-11 years later, we both ended up going to the same high school. We kind of ran into each other and were like, "hey aren't you that girl from nursery school?" and the rest, they say is history!
It took a few months to catch up with each other, but from then on we were pretty much attached at the hips. Yvonne and I went through a lot with each other from annoying parents and siblings(well..mine) to boyfriends, school drama, and so much more. I believe it was in my sophomore/junior year that I nicknamed her Giggles, for the simple fact that she laughed at everything that I said. I'm not sure whether or not that was a good thing, but that didn't matter :) She returned the favor and started calling me goofy, because 1) I made her laff all the time and 2) I had this sweatshirt that I got in florida that I wore all the time that had "goofy in florida" written on the front of it. (Hey, Yvonne...I still have it too! :P)
Eventually senior year rolled around and we planned on going to the same college and being roommates. People told us that we wouldn't come out of college being friends and we were ou to prove them wrong. We roomed together for 2 years and then went off and did our own things. Hung around with our own friends, but we still managed to talk or hang out with each other. The lil bugger was lucky enuff to get out of college in 4 years, while I was there for one more. Then she had to go off and get married to her high school sweetie, aww..how cute :P Anyway, that was a few years ago and she seems to be as happy as ever.
Yvonne gave birth to Lavona Alice, on March 17, 2002. That's a picture of her and the little one at the top of the page...and another picture of Lavonna at the bottom of the page. I got the pleasure of meeting my "niece" when she was about 3 months old. She's 17 months old now and is such a lil cutie. Unfortunately, that's the one and only time I've seen her, but Yvonne sends lots of pictures! Congrats to the happy couple on the start of their little family!!
Even though we don't see each other that often anymore, which is sad since we lived about 30 minutes from each other at one point, but now she's in Ohio and I'm in NY. We still manage to keep in touch via phone tag and email. As I said before, Yvonne's been there for me when no one else has and I hope that will never change. It's nice to have an old friend that you know you can always count on. I miss you Giggles! Congrats and good luck w/ the new addition! :)
