His Word In My Heart
As a child I was anxious
to invite Jesus in,
And I asked His forgiveness,
and cleansing from sin.
I memorized Scripture,
and studied God�s Word,
Assured that each prayer
that I prayed would be heard.
And when from the Lord
I was tempted to stray,
And follow sin�s path
that would lead me away,
Those verses I learned
always helped me endure,
Providing escape
that was steadfast and sure.
When tears filled my eyes
till no words could I pray,
And I felt all alone,
with the Lord far away,
God�s Words that were hidden
down deep in my heart,
Poured forth in my spirit
to draw me apart�.
To bask in the peace
He alone could provide,
While clasping me close,
with His arms open wide.
And when I was faithless,
and doubts lurked within,
His love filled my heart,
with forgiveness from sin.
I�m now near the end
of the long road of life,
And I�ve had my full share
of its heartache and strife,
But when in my grief
I�ve not known what to do,
I�ve found my dear Lord
has been faithful and true.
I know I can trust Him
to work for my best,
And help me be strong,
and to win every test,
Till someday He calls me
when earth�s work is done,
To reach Heaven�s shore
and behold God�s dear Son.
