God’s Love
God’s Love is not earned
Or lost by our being good or bad,
That anyone thinks so
Is really quite sad.
Nor can God’s love grow
Or diminish by how we act;
God’s love is totally
Unconditional in fact.
Unconditional is definite,
Absolute, and true,
Unhampered, limitless, wholehearted,
And demonstrative too.
Unconditional: cannot be bought
At any price,
Nor do you drive it away
When you are not being nice.
God’s love is offered
To all of mankind;
Those not receiving it
Have resisted heart soul and mind.
They’ve possibly been hurt
And don’t want to be hurt again,
But the love of God
Is unlike the love of men.
They may have been hurt
By one they loved before,
And think life is better
If loving is ignored.
They may never have heard
Of God and what He’s done,
Of a love so great
He sacrificed His Son.
God’s love can’t be compared
To anything else we’ve felt or known,
God created us to love
And to be His very own.
If you are one of those
Who resisted in the past,
Won’t you consider
Finding the truth at last?
Won’t you seek to learn
What is being offered to you;
Won’t you read the Holy Word
To see what’s true?
Won’t you ask Him to help you
To be able to see,
Just what it is
He’s offering to all humanity?
Call out to God;
Ask Him to open your eyes,
He’ll show you a love
You’ll neither resist nor despise!
