Following The Cloud

For forty years in desert land

God led His people there,

His presence in a cloud by day

To guide them everywhere.

When the cloud settled, they unpacked

And made home for a while,

But when the cloud moved on ahead

They walked mile after mile.

Waiting was never easy then

In the dry, barren land;

And though they learned to trust the Lord

They could not understand.

No sooner would they settle in,

Put up their feet to rest,

The cloud again would move ahead

In spite of their protests.

At other times they waited long

In desert sand so hot,

And said, No milk and honey here

The Promised Land its not!

We, too, may find were settled in

Enjoying a sweet rest

When our cloud moves and God says, too,

Trust MeI know whats best!

Or we think God may have left us

Too long in trials heat,

And we long for lush green pastures

Where we can rest our feet.

We, too, must learn to trust in God,

The Faithful One whos true;

When following the cloud God sends,

Hell lead us safely through.

Hes never late Hes right on time!

In faith we, too, can say

That through the parched, dry desert land

God led us all the way.

Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, to teach you that man does not live by bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord
( Deuteronomy 8:2-3 )

Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart. Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God. And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.
( Joshua 14:7-9 )(KJV)

God leads us, we must stay on the right path and follow Him.
