That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.
( Colossians 1: 10 )
Success in our walk with Christ begins with how we live the Christian life. The Lord has a plan for us to be successful in this life, and for us to have peace, joy, and love. We are to press forward in faith and walk worthy, always looking toward the finished work of the cross.
If we love the Lord, we will keep his commandments. We have a promise of being blessed for our obedience and love to Him. Our walk by faith is pleasing to the Lord as we fellowship with Him each day. When we have a desire to be in His presence and draw nigh unto him, He will draw nigh unto us.
If one has broken fellowship, walks away, and does not obey God, they cannot say they know the Lord as the Scripture says, "He that sayeth, 'I know him,' and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." Many today say they know the Lord, but do not walk worthy.
The Bible tells us these will not enter into heaven, although many deny the words of the Lord and continue to walk in the ways of the world. "And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments." ( 1 John 2: 3 ) Faith and obedience show genuine salvation and assurance of eternal life.
We must "know that we know Him" and will then have a desire to walk in obedience to His will and ways.
We are also told to be fruitful in every good work. We all know good works do not save us, but we are to have good works and be fruitful in them. This means as a vine produces fruit, we as Christians will also produce good works and be fruitful. We are the branches of the Lord and as He cares for us,
waters and prunes, we are able to have the attributes of our Savior. We can increase in the knowledge of the Lord, as we let His Holy Spirit reveal to us God's ways and words.
We must keep on walking for the Lord. The path is straight and we know along the road there will be many schemes of the enemy. If we follow the Lord, we do not have to worry, as our journey will be safe and victorious. As we look to the cross, may we always see the power of the One who gave us eternal life and will keep us safe in Him. There is no other like our Blessed Lord.
Jesus is the only answer for the world today!
