Jesus Took My Place
My blessed Jesus took my place,
Upon that cruel cross at Calvary.
He was destined from the beginning,
To save the wretched sinner me.
I could not do it on my own,
As a weak and sinful creature I am.
The Father set the design in effect,
For He knew then what it would cost.
He sent His precious begotten,
To be the only perfect sacrifice.
The atonement for sin of all mankind,
It was the shedding of his blood.
They place the woven crown of thorns,
Upon my blessed Savior's precious head.
The thorns of my sins for him to carry,
No longer accounted to me.
Jesus freely did give His all,
On that dark and dreaded eventful day.
Satan thought that he had conquered it all,
Proud of his wicked evil ways.
Then triumphant Jesus arose,
On the third day told by prophets of old.
To live and reign throughout eternity.
Joy to the world He is risen!!
