Ten Thousand Angels Cried
Was it ten thousand angels
That stood to block the sun,
While our Lord Jesus died
As God's beloved Son.
Was it all of heaven's host
That screened the Father's face,
While Jesus took the blame
Bearing our disgrace.
Was it their silver tears
Rained softly in the dark,
While our sin crushed the lamb of God
Breaking the Father's heart.
Was this the twelve legions of angels
Jesus would not call,
To save Him from the chosen pain
The piercing of our thorn.
Did they beat their mighty wings
To shake death's hardened core,
As God split the temple curtain
So we'd know His love forever more.
Is it these ten thousand thousand angels
Who now worship at the throne,
Rejoicing as the risen Lord
Brings all His precious children home.

They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders.

And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
