The following is intense yammering, where I'll tell you about my music. Read it and weep.
When I first started off tracking, I saw it as a really cool thing. And believe me, if you've got the talent and the music in the back of your mind, then tracking is definitely one way to promote your songs. Personally speaking, I'm not good at composing, and I don't think I'll ever be. But I have ideas. Not good ones, but they're there. And I usually try to track a song out into IT format if I think it's a good idea. I have the ability to play any song on the keyboard by simple listening to it. This is more commonly referred to as "playing by ear", which is something I'm very good at. I did take piano lessons when I was 6 years old or something, but obviously I've forgotten everything I learnt in those few weeks and I basically can't read music. My so-called talent for the playing piano actually arose from continuously listening to Yanni's music and trying to perform as the man himself does. Obviously, I don't think I'll reach the point where I'll man my own 100-piece orchestra, but I enjoy playing. It's all just a hobby for me. An enjoyable one. The first song I tracked out was more of a self-rewarding composition, rather than a serious song or melody of some kind. I called it "The Evening Beach" because I actually heard the piano in my head while I was on a beach (sounds like a typical inspiration scenario!). That was in 1993 I think, and at that time, I had no internet access and no idea that a format known as "Mods" existed. I started learning about it when I became connected in 1997 and I began tracking as soon as I had the concepts. "Aimlessly" - which is in my opinion, my best track so far - was thought up by chance. Sitting on my old keyboard, I was messing around (hence the name "aimlessly") until I got the riff and thought "hmmm...why not a dance track ?". Obviously, there's no deep tale of inspiration here. It's been reviewed by Novus of Full circle, who is by far one of the most talented artists I've known! "Insomnia" was a track I basically thought up after I hung-up after a nice conversation with someone. I have no idea where the notes came from...I just knew. "After the Sunrise" is an abysmal attempt by me to create a Yanni song in mod format. Since I'm so inexperienced in tracking, you can pretty much guess that this one is extremely amateur-sounding (like most of my music). The song is the opening track on one of Yanni's earlier albums "Reflections of Passion". "Aria" is yet another Yanni-to-mod step by me. Again, I basically murdered the song in the process, but personally, I learnt something from it: I should stop trying. "Evening Beach II" , along with "Aimlessly" is a track that I not only composed, but am proud of. Although it sounds like it was done in a very non-professional manner, I am happy with it because it comes very close to the actual tune in my head. This is definitely better than the first part. If you like or hate these songs, don't tell me. I don't want to know. NOTE: Visit the Linkz area to get a player for these songs, if you don't already have one such as ModPlug Player or WinAMP
