Step into my Flight

Standing upon the edge of the track
Peering over the cliffs before me black
Scared by what might attack
Terrified from what is at my back
Two steps left upon this crack

I stand here with tears upon my face
And I hear the sound of a frail voice upon the wind
A voice I once would hide behind
Powerful and brave this voice once be
Until it was stabbed in front of me

Darkest of hair, color of night
Eyes the coldest of winter's plight
Cream his skin so pure and light
Anger of chaos will be his might
And so I stand this far from sight
Prepared to flee from any fight
The sun before me makes all bright
Except below in the cliff's dark delight
Gazing down I seem to fright
Behind me the creatures claw and bite
The chance I have is turning slight
To escape my perils and to be blight
In this one thing I must be right
The pain in my chest is growing tight
From a distance I hear him cite
My name from pure to white
But I take a step as I recite
The words he would have me write
Final step left of height
Now I step into my flight

Fall I do from that top ledge
No fear left to hide behind
The wind catches me as I fall
And presses me faster towards the ground
It is there that I am found

Now here I do lay
What words I did write now I say
To make as clear as day
What once was gray
His face is dark and held at bay
For fear that someone would see his way
And take what they may
For what he owes he could never pay
They would come and take all away
With my step into flight I no longer must stay
Yet I see his hair upon the wind sway
His face with tears that would stray
I just smile and know that today
Will be the last time I am his ray
