New inner wheel wells were obtained from Sherman Associates and welded in place.

The next step was installing the subframe connectors. Each connector is made out of 2x3 14ga rectangular tubing. The cost was less than $20.

The floorpan was cut to allow the subframe connector to pass through the floor.

The front section of the rear subframe was then cut out because the springs will be moved in using the mopar spring relocation kit.

the frame connector was in place then the new front spring perch was tacked onto the end of the connector. Then the whole assembly was removed and welded completly. Next it was installed for a final time and fully welded to the floorpan, trans crossmember and to the rear subframe.

the shackle mounts had to be moved in to make the springs paralell. to strengthen the car i put a piece of 2x3 14ga tubing across the back. then welded shackle mounts on. also to replace the section of the frame where the bumper mounts i used 4x4 square tubing.

i did the left quarter first because i only needed to replace the lower half. the car was flanged, then all paint was striped off with a wire wheel in a die grinder. finally the car and the qtr both got coats of 3M weld thru coating. i got the panels from year one. they don't fit very good, they are about 1/2 inch too long, the body lines are not as sharp as originals and they are slightly wavy. the quarter was welded on in small sections to avoid warping. this side went much smoother that the other which i replaced the full quarter Previous: Body Work
