ONIONS FOR JESUS

Sometimes we think more highly of ourselves than we ought and it's an easy thing to do, especially for those of us who stand in offices of ministry and operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. But the Lord has a way of showing us what the "real deal" is if we will just listen to what He is trying to say to us.

Let me tell you about a vision that I had recently.

A small group of us were praying after a planning meeting . After a few minutes the presence of the Holy Spirit visited us and began to move us into intercession. He began to lead us in prayer. A real work in prayer was being done as we addressed issues and strongholds related to the ministry here.

The Lord instructed me to anoint the pews in our building and to begin to pray over them and the people who come in and sit upon them. As I walked, anointed with oil and prayed, He began to reveal to me certain attached demonic spirits that were hindering the work of God personally in individual lives and corporately for us as a gathered body. I met them with the authority of the Name and Blood of Jesus, broke their hindering clutches, bound them, prohibited them from their activity and sent them away.

We were all really feeling the Spirit of God mightily.

I dropped down onto my knees in worship.

As I worshipped and prayed the Lord showed me a vision of an onion. Here I was in the presence of the Almighty with the power of God all over me and rather than showing me his feet or the base of his throne he showed me an onion.

The Lord said to me, "What do you see?" I replied, "I see an onion." Then the layers of the onion began to peel away until nothing was left. Again the Lord said to me, "What do you see?" "Nothing." I replied. Then he told me, "Don't forget it because without me you are nothing and can do nothing. It's not you. It's all me. It's my gifts at work in you. It's my calling upon your life."

It only took a few seconds but the truth of it will last a lifetime.

The Lord is actively working in the Body of Christ to bring us to the place where we are totally submissive to and totally respective of him. It really is his show and he desires to be center stage. The garments of anointing and gifts that he dresses us in as supportive characters all belong to him.
