What is a mud you ask? Multi-User Dimension is what i like to call it, it is also known as a Multi-User Dungeon, Domain, etc.
it is basically a test RPG, most muds are friendly and helpful, some don't like newbies (a new player). i love to play these
for many reasons, not just that it is fun, is that it doesn't get boring (to me), although most muds are generic to each other, you can sometimes
find one extremely different from any other, which is usually the best type to play, because playing a stock mud isnt very exciting.
muds require thinking, fast typing (i recommend you practice typing or set up alot of aliases, macros, and triggers to go along with
the mud you play), you play a mud through a client, most of these clients are free, the best client i think, is Gmud32, it is a small file
400k or so, that offers ansi (color), aliases, macros, triggers (with sound), easy to use, and i think is alot easier to understand than the more advanced
ones like Zmud, that have the ability to make more complex triggers and macros and aliases, those are for the more advanced at using mud clients.
the mud i love to play all the time is call Utopia, Tale of Heros, or UTH, as you might of heard of it, if you play other muds. (muds names are often abbrieviated).
to play a mud, you have to enter the ip address of the mud, and the port, to get these either ask people you know, or go to www.mudconnector.com, there you will
find the largest place on the internet full of mud listings, people list their muds there for people to connect to. it gives the ip address a description (if the owner or owners submitted one)
and the port of the mud. it has a search engine for muds on the site, so it is relatively easy to find them. ill have a link to downloading Gmud (the client i use), and a list of various things for
the mud i play, Utopia, Tale of Heros. if you want to connect to UTH, just put xeen.crodo.com under address, and 4321 under port. and simply, CONNECT.
there you will probably see me as, Cobolt Elite Golden Oozaruu, Kracin Sith Master, Horvath Grand Enchanter, MNKY Dragi, i am pretty much the strongest there, (except for about
1-2 other players which were set by an immortal [an immortal is someone who runs the mud, or creates thing on the mud]).
