Mangrove forest As safe guard from tides and monsoon, mangrove forest
serves as natural breeding site for aquatic animal, thus ensuring biological diversity. In 1993, Krabi had 178,292 rai of mangrove forest, or about 16.91 % of all mangrove forests in Thialand. Most mangrove forests dispers in Amphoe Muang, Ao Luk
Nua Khlong, Khlong Thom and Amphoe Ko Lanta. During 1961-1993 , mangrove forest decreased up to 157,333 rai, or about 4,917 rai per year in average, mainly due to shrimp farming, firewood and charcal production, and community settlement.
Corals
Corals reef thrives in moderately deep sea around off-coastal islands such as Phi Phi and Ngai. Thrust upward from the seas, the thick limestone layers that form
most near-coastal islands have high amount of nutrient and plane plankton. Elkhorn corals, seafans and coralline can be found here.
Sea grass
While protecting shoreline andsoil erosion, sea grass also serves as nursery, safe shelter and food reserves for young aquatic animals. 7 out of 12 sea grass speciesfound in the Gulf of Thailand and tha Andaman Sea
are found in Krabi, especially in Ko Lanta National Marine Park.
Fish
Many fishes are found in Hat Nopparat Thara-Ko Phi Phi National Marine Park and Ko Lanta National Marine Park, especially the groupers and snappers.
Forest
Most of them are Deciduous Forest and Mangrove Forest.
Mostimportant tree species are Cotylelobium melanoxylon, Hopea sp., Intsia, palembanica, Aegialites, rotundifolia, and Rhizophora sp.
Three-fourth of forest is the National Reserves Forest,
particularly in Khao Nor Chuchi Low Land Forest where high flora and fauna biodiversity was found. According to the survey conducted in 1991, Krabi had 279,375 rai of forest or about 9.40 percent.
Mineral
Lignite is presently mined at Khlong Pu Dum and Khlong Wai Lek, Tambon Khlong Khanan and Amphoe Nua Khlong. Other reserves found are Amphoe Muang and Amphoe Khlong Thom. Adsitionally, fluorides are mined at Nua Khlong and Tambon Khlong Thom Tai
As Krabi is lacking of Provincial Mineral Resources Office, concession fee from mineral minings are forwarded to Trang.
