General Tips
These are tips provided to get you started in the game. They are not a walkthrough, just little ideas I found helpful in playing.
1. Save a lot. You never know when you might fall off a cliff or get attacked by some unexpected visitor. You don't want to die and have to repeat a large portion of the game.
2. Save under differant games. Sometimes when you explore new territories you get into a situation where you can't in anyway get out of alive and if you save in a situation like this uner one game only you'll be stuck and will have to start over.
3. Learn the shortcut keys. This just makes the game go faster. The important ones are:
F3-repeat
F4-look at item
F5-save
F7-restore
Alt-Z-exit
Tab-inventory
=-swim
The others are l isted by going to "help."
4. Check your inventory a lot. If the wizard catches you with an item that has an asterik (*) next to it he will kill you. You can hide those items under your bed.
5. Explore everywhere and look in everything. You never know where you might find something. Also take everything you find. You never know when you might need it, and you use almost everything you come across.
6. Try typing things in different ways. If the computer won't let you do something, it is often because it doesn't understand what you are trying to say. Rewording things often helps.
7. Becareful when doing the spells. If you skip a step or type something in the incantation wrong, you die.
8. Take advantage of when the wizard leaves. While the wizard is gone you can do a lot of things. You can explore the whole house and even go to town while the wizard is gone. Just be sure to be in the house and free of all the (*) items by the time he gets home.
9. Use your map. That map is one of the most useful things on the game. You'll miss it on other games.
10. Walk carefully on the path. Save every couple of steps. From my experience it is very easy to fall on the path.
11. Last of all, take your time and enjoy the game. In my opinion this is the very best Kings Quest game. Play it slowly and look at everything!
