| The Walt Disney Co. released a report on July 12 stating that it intends to cut the number of movies it releases each year from 18 to 8. In addition, all 8 of those films will be under the Walt Disney pictures banner, thus freezing the Disney-owned Touchstone and Miramax output. |
| Disney is riding high on the mega-success of the sequel, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which was released by Walt Disney Pictures. Many critics and patrons have noted that POTC2 is extremely violent and in some ways sadistic. The original POTC was the first Walt Disney Pictures film rated PG-13. |
| In terms of adult content, Disney has crossed a line. Not every movie WDP puts out will be suitable for everyone, and the 8 films for 2007 reflects this monumental change. They are: |
