Mother, May We Paint The Eggs

Mother, may we paint the eggs, in shades of pink and blue

To hide on Easter morning, a fun thing to do

We'll take our Easter baskets, and hunt them for a prize

A big chocolate Easter bunny, a very sweet surprise

Mother, may we paint the eggs, in green and yellow-gold

So-- that we may have them, for our Easter egg roll

We'll take a wooden spoon, and roll them down a hill

To be the first to cross the line, oh what a fun thrill

Mother, may we paint the eggs, and color them in Spring

And wait and see on Easter morn, what the Easter bunny brings

I hope he brings a box of peeps--sticky, fluffy, yellow

Sprinkled in a candied sugar, over marshmallow

I hope I find some jelly beans, what a delight

My favorites are the black ones, the red, and the white

Mother, may we paint some eggs, for all to come and play

And we will have a big egg hunt, come Easter day.
