A Child's First Day Back To School

Rushing out the door, with my brown paper sack
Carrying my supplies, in my new back pack
Paper, pencils, scissors, crayons, and glue
Butterflies fill tummies, and excitement too

Busy bus stop chatter---as we wait in line
For the yellow bus, that's always on time
    Anticipation awaits...of who will be-----
In the same-- homeroom as me

Running through the door, before the bell rings
Wondering, what-- this new year will bring?
I am in a new grade, and have a new teacher too
I wonder what kind of things, we will learn do?

There's a locker in my class, next to the door
And I got a big kid desk (like the kids in grade four)
We got new books, worksheets, and pens
And today in class, I made some new friends

The teacher made me, the new pledge leader
And I'm in a reading group, called weekly readers
We learned math and science and geography
And we practiced for next weeks, spelling bee

We went to the lunchroom, at eleven thirty-nine
And I made another friend, as I waited in line
After lunch was over (came the best part of the day)
We got to have recess, and go outside to play

Then the time came, to go home again------
I got on the bus and sat next to my new friend
I can't wait till tomorrow, cause today was so fun
I hope that everyday is as good, as day one.
