Who Will Protect The Children

Who will protect the children, from the evils that be
Lurking in the shadows of society

Who will protect the children from the cold hard glare
Of the predator creeping about, to drag them to his lair

Who will protect the children, if not you and me
To shelter them from harm, so they remain happy and free

Who will protect the children, from the grip of a strangers hand
As they play in the park or build castles in the sand

Who will protect the children, from the thief that comes in the night
Robbing them of their innocence, and stealing them in flight

Every child has the right to experience life's simple pleasures
From tea parties to baseball games, childhoods lil' treasures

Who will stand up for the children and shield them today
By building them a better tomorrow, and giving them a safer place to play

Who will defend the children, so one day there will cease to be
Another Elizabeth, Sarah, Jessica, Dillon, Shasta, and Polly

We must honor these little angels, who paid the highest cost
And preserve another child from having their innocence lost.
