This book, Where the Red Fern Grows, is about a 10 year old boy who wants two hunting hounds. He wants them so bad that he decided to raise the money to buy them himself. He wants them enough that he walks by foot to reach them in the city. Then the training began. Soon, Old Dan and Little Ann are two of the best hunting dogs in the Ozarks. Old Dan and Little Ann go through a lot together and are always there for each other throughout the book. From the Championship coon hunt to fighting a Mountain Lion they were always there to heal each other.
                   From this book I have learned to be thankful for what I have and to persevere in whatever I do. In this book Billy and his dogs never give up even when it may have come down to death. They were always ready to win. If you are looking for a good read and to learn a little from it I highly recommend Where the Red Fern Grows. I definitely have learned a lot from this book.
