| FRIENDS OF CANADIAN POLISH YOUTH INC | ||||||||
| We are Montreal based non-profit organisation. All of our activities are aimed to providing material and moral support to the various Polish Boy Scout and Girl Guide units operating in the Montreal region. The overall is to assist young people in developing Canadian civic mindedness and adapt themselves to Canadian social conditions. Summary of activities: - Fund raising to provide material support to the realisation of the annual scouting program. The fund raising activities include: community dances, theatrical reviews, solicitation of funds from Polish "umbrella" organisations and direct appeals to selected Polish Canadian individuals and companies led by them. -Providing financial support to the realisation of the summer and seasonal camps. Example include: direct financial contributions purchase and /or repair of camping equipment payment of camp fees for the children of specific families in financial need payment of chalet rental fees for winter and spring week-end camps -Providing material, moral and organisational support enabling weekly scouting meetings to be held throughout the year at various community sites. Examples include: obtaining information about potential meeting locales, screening them and booking the selected meeting rooms for the use of our boy scouts and girl guides. arranging special activities for our youth: visits to Old Peoples Homes and War Veterans Hospital, Remembrance Day activities, visit to points of interest in the city, arranging appearance by suitable guests etc. -General moral support and counciling to our youth. Examples include: advise on selecting, traning and development of troop leaders. suitable integration into community adult activities for maturing youth. intergration of Catholic religious practice into scouting program. sensitisation of youth to Polish cultural heritage, folklore, songs, arts, history, geography, etc. Tools used include books, films, guest speakers, etc. |
