Escape from New York is my favorite flick of all time, though for music I would have to give it to Streets of Fire. These are both very silly action flicks, EFNY with a heavy dose of dystopia and futuristic paranoia, Streets with a heavy dose of rock and roll providing the background for childish romance and jealousy. They are by two of my favorite directors, John Carpenter and Walter Hill and they both have great casts. EFNY was Kurt Russell's first adult role, and it has a great back up cast of Lee Van Cleef, Harry Dean Stanton, Adrienne Barbeau, and Ernest Borgnine. Streets of Fire stars a lot of people who went on to huge careers in the late 80s: Rick Moranis, Willem Dafoe, Bill Paxton, and Diane Lane, although she seemed to drop off the face of the earth for ten years has made a come back lately. If you haven't seen them, check them out at your video store.
