On a mission with Tornado to the Final Fantasy VII world, X went off to fight in Gold Saucer's Battle Arena, and after winning several consecutive battles, X, in this RPG enviroment, gained enough expirience points to achieve the next level: Upgraded Advanced Type Battle Armor.

This upgrade improved X's speed, and technology, though his brute power improved very little. Flight is now possible without the shift into Wave-Rider mode, where as an aircraft, he has little manuverability and no projectile weapons.
