A Windy Night

She sat in front of her work, quill in hand and a thoughtful look upon her face. The wind howled outside, but despite the noise of it all of the creatures inside slept safe and sound. The log cabin was huge, it had to be, and she smiled at the thought of why as she dipped her quill in the ink, a new chapter to begin.

From across the room two glowing eyes peered at the young woman at her desk in one corner. They blinked at her before turning to stare at the large fireplace. The fire was threatening to go out. The eyes narrowed and suddenly the fire roared to life, large and warm for all of the younger ones in the room.

On the other side two olive eyes noticed the change in temperature and looked over at the flaming male. Those in the room were Eorlan, except the human woman. Canine like creatures from Eorl's Honor. They battled, trained, romped around the lands, and such as that. In other rooms there were creatures that did the same as the Eorlan, but looked different and were generally different species. They included the Naisuk, from Nai's Glory, the Iernatai from Iern's Spirit, the Tyrlidon from Tyr's Fury, and the Diardan from Diar's Wrath.

Sprawled on the sofa lay a pale, glowing figure. He was known as Aura, the first known Life Elemental. He slept quietly now on one side of the sofa, in front of the warm fire. On the other side slept Yukionna Megami. A sea green female pup with enough cheer to make anyone smile, except maybe Kedoras...the Chaos-Fire male who had given the failing fire new life.

Snoozing happily on a rug in front of the fire was Haru. An happy gardener with a mind of his own. To one side of the fire, not far from Haru slept Nonukai. She would have been out and flying about, stretching her wings in the cool night air if it wasn't for the dreadful wind that kept her inside.

Off in the last corner, shimmering peacefully and fading in and out of focus snoozed Kian SilverRift. A Portal Elemental with an intelligent, serious way about him. Half the time he never talked to anybody, and the rest of the time, when he did, most didn't understand him.

The last didn't sleep easily, she rolled about behind the sofa fitfully, causing Raeli to frown at her. Sometimes Bohemian slept without any troubles, sometimes she didn't. With a start she bolted up and stared at the two adults who were looking at her. She frowned sheepishly at them. "Sorry," she mumbled.

"It's fine," Raeli said, olive eyes understanding.

Kedoras just let out a snort and turned his head away, resting it atop his clawed paws and staring at the wall.

Yes, it was a windy night and all were silent in the log cabin. The Naisuk snoozed in the other rooms. Azriath found his sleeping place in one of the many rooms, on a soft bed. Marvin slept there also, rolling around and dreaming of cherry pies. Daiquiri, the Undead Naisuk, slept atop the dining room table. Imagine everyone's distress when discovering that in the morning.

The Iernatai, Magrathea and Quezacotl, had both crashed in a large armchair. RuRu, the crazy rapper/punk Iern, had found his spot next to a large bookcase and not far from him slept Ingrid, surrounded by books talking of magic.

Ether, the plushie Diardan with buttons for eyes, flopped wherever for when you were plushie soft it just didn't matter where you slept. Zafirah was curled in yet another armchair, with little Asiago with her.

The Tyrlidon, Mardion, was not asleep. He patrolled the halls of the huge cabin, staring emotionlessly at everyone he saw. Finally he came to the huge den where the all of the Eorlan slept. He sat down next to their Trainer, TyKay, who brushed the feathered quill against her face, stuck on a certain paragraph in her story. When spotting Mardion she smiled and patted him on the head. He grumbled and rolled his eyes, but didn't move from his spot.

Yes... it was a windy night.
