| Oil tanned leather is best preserved with Mink Oil products first use polly golves and rub to spread evenly over the surface then use a hair dryer on warm to melt it into the surface. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| The best sewing method for renewing stitching in older leather goods is to do a forward running stitch across in the orginal holes appering like dashes till your reach the end of that row of stitching then return the stitch filling in the blank spots hole to hole and you end with a saddle like stitch over twice as strong as the original Lock stitch. it is best to use Nylon thread of the same gage that was origianlay used. bees wax should be used most the time by dragging a leinght of thread to coat it by friction this preserves the thread and helps ease it thru the original holes with a natural lubracant . When resewing use a needle that is close to the original hole size pull the needle thru with needle nosed plyers or medical forcepts staying in original holes . use standard house hold needles with points IF your sewing a new product use glover s needles that cut holes as you sew. |
