This was my 3rd costume and one I had wanted to do since I saw the anime for the first time. I love giant swords, so this was a must-do. My friend Curtis made me the awesome sword. You can't really tell it's duct tape, either. My friend Aleeza helped me construct the armor. My friend and seamstress, Christy, loaned her industrial sewing machine to do all the leather work,  and my wonderful mother, who for some  odd reason supports this habit, wanted to make my hooded cape.

In 2004, a former shop owner and friend, Masaki, asked his neighbor and friend, Yoshihiko Umakoshi, to come with him to Sakura-con to see  my costume. Umakoshi is the character designer for the Berserk anime! I had no idea Umakoshi was coming to our convention until I had gotten there. He wasn't even an announced guest! So, it was a very amazing and special experience. Umakoshi and the people who accompanied him, were very much impressed with my costume and it made me very proud that all the hard work put into this costume was rewarded so greatly! He asked me to attend his autograph session later that day so that he may sign something for me. I didn't have anything to sign, so I asked if he would sign my sword. Masaki told me that Umakoshi said he felt very privilaged to do so. He drew Gatts and signed his name (pictured below!). Director Hiroshi Nagahama (not associated with the Berserk anime, but Berserk fan) was also at the session and he, too, wanted to sign and draw on my sword. I was wearing my Ninja Turtles shirt (which he is also a fan of), so he asked if he could draw a turtle on it. I have pictures of me with Umakoshi & Nagahama, but Nicole still has yet to give them to me off her camera...

Spontaneously decided to get "beat up" at Fanime 2006. My friend, Rose, was attending a cosmotology school and brought her supplies to the con. So, I let her "beat me up" to do something a little different.
