1. You will each be constructing your own Geography Book consisting of 5geographic features. Your book will be a description of those 5 geographic features. For each feature you must:
a. Draw it.
b. Define it.
c. Find 2 examples of it by using an atlas or a map.
d. Describe at least 2 important reasons it would be advantageous to live near that geographic feature (economic, military, political).
e. Describe how the feature affects the people of the area.
2. You will work in groups for this project. You will all, however, produce your own Geography Book. Your objective as a group is to define all the features by using the textbook and find them on the maps. I will write down where in the textbook you can find each feature. It is your job to find their definitions and locations on the map as a group.
3. Each geographic feature must be on its own page. All responses must be in complete sentences and in paragraph form. Merely copying definitions will not result in a high grade. You must be thorough in your responses, descriptions, and explanations.
Grading Instructions
The project will be worth 60 points. The points will be broken down as follows:
1. Each geographic feature is worth 10 points for a total of 50 points. The points will be broken down as follows:
a. Drawing (1 point)
b. Definition (1 points)
c. 2 examples (4 points � 2 points per example)
d. How the feature affects the people of the area -- (4 points)
2. 10 points will be given for creativity and presentation of the book. To get a full 10 points for this, you must:
a. Present your data in a neat, creative way. Make it lively and colorful.
b. Be creative in your written responses.
� Put yourself in the book.
� Create a continuous theme for all the geographic features (write a diary, scrap book, tour guide, pretend you are a newspaper reporter, etc.).
The Geography Book will be due on Monday, September 29. You will receive 5 points off your grade for one day late. You will receive 10 points off for 2 days late, and so on.
