Animal symbolism in Irish mythology
Boars - symbolize courage and strong warriors, since they are strong, dangerous, and very hard to kill. A boars appearance in a dream or vision indicates warriors.
Fish - associated with knowledge and wisdom, which can be passed on by eating them.
Serpents and dragons - symbolize trouble. When they appear, infertility and strife come with them.
Birds - represent prophetic knowledge, bloodshed, and skill. Are either the message or messenger. Also symbolize a warrior's prowess by their method of capture.
Horses, cattle, pigs - represent fertility. The proseperity of a clan is reflected in its herds. |
