Homework: Students are expected to complete their homework in pencil on either lined or graph
paper (NOT on the PHOTOCOPY of the homework unless specifically stated by the instructor).
Students are expected to have homework completed before their arrival to class and display
their homework on their desks. Homework will be randomly checked at the beginning of class.
Homework answers and specific problems will be reviewed while students mark corrections on their
papers.
Once homework corrections are complete, students must put their corrected homework in their homework
binder. Homework binders will stay in the classroom. Students will use their homework binders
on homework quizzes.
Topic Quizzes: Students should be prepared to take a quiz each academic Thursday (In the event that there is no class on Thursday, the quiz will be automatically moved to Friday). The quizzes will be based primarily on the material covered since
the previous quiz and will also contain some review. Note cards may be used to assist students on the
quiz (see explanation below). Students will be expected to ask questions before the quiz is taken.
Partial credit will be given on problems in which students show the correct steps, but may not achieve
the correct answer. PLEASE SHOW ALL WORK!
Make-up quizzes will be available for students following excused absences. Make-up quizzes are to be
taken on the first academic day upon return to school (unless otherwise specified by the teacher).
If a make-up quiz is not taken, a grade of zero is given for that quiz. Each student may drop one
quiz grade per trimester.
Homework Quizzes: Students should be prepared to take the occational unscheduled homework quiz (1-3 homework quizzes each trimester). Homework quizzes are given to test the students on homework completion,
organization, and corrections. At the start of each homework quiz students will be given the assignment,
date, and problem numbers to complete. Students will use their homework binders to aide in the completion
of the quiz.
Tests: Test material will be reviewed the day before the test. This in-class review time is
expected to be accompanied with out-of-class review. Students are asked to use pencil on tests. Partial
credit will be given on problems in which students show the correct steps, but may not achieve the correct
answer. PLEASE SHOW ALL WORK!
Agenda Book: Agenda Books are supplied by the school to students at the beginning of the
school year. Students are responsible for recording their assignments in their agenda books on a
daily basis. Agenda books will be checked each academic week and will either receive a grade of 0% (not complete),
50% (late or partially complete), or 100% (complete).
Note cards: Each student will need a ring of 3x5 note cards. A spiral bound set of note cards
can be purchased at almost any school supply store, such as Walmart, for under a dollar. Students are asked
to bring the spiral bound note cards to class on the Monday of their second academic week. If acquiring a spiral bound set of note cards
is a problem, please notify Ms. Koski before the Friday of your first academic Friday. The instructor will notify
students of what information is appropriate for the cards; all other information should be written in the student's
notes. Students are responsible for getting note card information from classmates if they are absent from class.
Note cards may not be used on tests (including the Final Exam- unless otherwise specified), but are acceptable on any other form of assessment. Students
are encouraged to store their note cards in the classroom so that they will be available for quizzes.
Academic Honesty: Academic honesty is an important component in this course and will therefore
be treated with the according seriousness. If any component of academic honesty is violated, the violator (and
other participants) may lose credit on the work associated with this violation. Academic honesty is
considered violated if any and/or all of the following occur:
- Plagiarism
- Communication in any manner with other students during a quiz and/or test
- Using notes, text, or other material on tests and/or quizzes that has not been approved
by the course instructor
- Providing other students with information and/or materials containing information prohibited
during tests and/or quizzes.

Classroom Policies
Break Time: The class will have the opportunity to earn a three minute break during class time. Students will earn their break time by participating in class discussions, demonstrating good behavior, as well as completion of class work. Breaks will not be given at a specified time, but rather, at a time suitable for that days activities. Break time is determined by Ms. Koski and students will not be notified in advance. During break time students must remain in the classroom and return to their seats at the sound of the alarm from a timer.
Punctuality: Students who are not in the classroom at the time that the bell rings are considered late. If another teacher keeps a student late, they must bring a pass from that teacher to my class. If a student is late without a pass they will be assigned a thirty minute detention*.
At the end of class time, students are often given 5-10 minutes to clean-up, fill out their agenda books, and begin homework. When this is complete students may use the time to solve written or hands-on puzzles (Ms. Koski has these). During these last few minutes of the period students must remain in their seats. Students who wait by the door before the bell rings will be assigned a thirty minute detention*.
*Detentions must be served with Ms. Koski either the day of the detention or the day after it has been assigned. Failure to do so will result in a one hour central detention (as explained in the student handbook).
Hats:
Hats will be allowed except during tests and quizzes and/or if it becomes a distraction to student learning. This privilege will be revoked for all classes if problems occur.
Bathroom:
Note: Students must sign in and out on the "Check-Out Chart" when leaving the room during class time. Examples include: Bathroom, Nurse, Office...etc.
Students may use the bathroom throughout class time while adhering to the following guidelines:
- Students must accurately and legibly fill in the “Check-Out Chart” with their name, destination, time of departure, and time of return.
- Students must notify the teacher of their departure from the classroom.

Re-take/Re-do Policy:
The focus of this course is on students learning mathematics. Students learn at different speeds, therefore students will be given multiple opportunities to demonstrate their abilities.
- Any student who wishes to improve their homework or quiz score may re-take the assignment.
- Students deciding to re-take quizzes must complete the Re-take Agreement provided by Ms. Koski.
- Homework's & Quizzes can only be re-done during the current marking period.
- In order to be successful, students will need to review the content of the homework or quiz. One way students may do this is by meeting with Ms. Koski afterschool (by appointment) 2:05-2:20pm.
- The re-take grade on a quiz will be averaged with the original quiz grade.
