overview: the senshi regain their powers and save the day from energy-draining evil! again!
villians: the makaiju with ail and ann, and the black moon family with the ayakashi sisters, rubbeus, esmeraude, safiru, prince dimando, black lady, and wiseman.
summary: PART ONE: THE MAKAIJU
after the hard battle with beryl, the senshi have lost all memories of being senshi. everyone is happy, when out of nowhere comes a new type of monster. luna is forced to give sailormoon her memory back. sailormoon kills the monster. tuxedo kamen has not been reawakened, so there's this mad funky guy called tsukikage no knight (moonlight knight) that has to chuck WHITE roses at people.
soon the other five inner senshi are awakened, and you find that two new students have moved to juuban junior high: ginga seijuurou (alan granger) and ginga natsumi (ann granger). seijuurou falls for usagi and natsumi falls for mamoru, but usagi and mamoru are together. natsumi and seijuurou are supposed to be brother and sister to fool the humans, but ann can't hide her feelings for ail; when kino makoto (sailorjupiter) falls in love with ail, believing that he is tsukikage no knight, ann really wigs out.
in the end, it is revealed that tsukikage no knight is mamoru's subconcious protecting usagi. ail and ann have to realize that they love each other. the senshi turn them good and send them and their happy tree home.

PART TWO: THE BLACK MOON FAMILY
note: this is the only part in R that is true to the manga.

usagi and mamoru are happily dating when a little pink-haired girl pops out of the sky and lands on usagi. her name is chibiusa and she looks almost exactly like usagi. (i could never see it... maybe it was the red eyes and pink hair and the fact that they looked nothing alike. but the manga AND show say they are almost identical.) mamoru breaks up with usagi, leaving her distraught and depressed. the inners try to help her, but she's really beyond help. when she gets into trouble with the ayakshi sisters, tuxedo kamen still arives to save sailormoon or the others, but he leaves without saying anything, and is a real prat for MOST of the season. (in one episode, tuxedo kamen and sailormoon have to ice-skate together against the enemy, so they work together very closely, but tuxie still ditches her in the end. i was royally erked over that. but it was a sailorjupiter episode. so i couldn't complain.) the ayakashi sisters (cooan/catsy, beruche/birdy, calaveras/avery, and petz/prizma) are turned good, and rubbeus is blown up when esmeraude makes his ship self-destruct. the senshi, after being saved from rubbeus, travel to the future. it is revealed that the dreams that mamoru was having were really a test. they were to test the love that mamoru had for usagi, to what extent he would go in order to protect usagi. it is now revealed that chibiusa is mamoru and usagi's daughter from the future. esmeraude's arrogance and conceit lead ultimately to her destruction. after she lets sailormoon escape, wiseman gives her a tiara that she's told will increase her power, when it rally just turns her into a really ugly dragon. and i mean REALLY ugly. chibiusa is now captured and forced to become wicked lady. even her adorable little luna-P ball goes over to the dark side... very sad. she is restored, and now we turn to my favorite bishounen, the one, the only, safiru. see now, he's good. safiru realizes what a jerk wiseman is, and wants to save his brother. petz warned him not to go, but he tries to warn his brother and save him anyway. wiseman kills him before he can. (which, may i add, drove me into a severe depression for a few weeks. i love safiru with all of my heart, and when he was killed, and revealed to be GOOD, being that the blackmoon symbol had vanished from his forhead, i went a little insane. but i think i'm beginning to recover.)
after safiru's VERY UNNECESSARY death, dimando realizes what a monster wiseman is. but he dies trying to save sailormoon from wiseman. so now all you have left is the sailorsenshi against wiseman.

they win.
in the very last episode of the season, the senshi argue over who should be the leader. in the distance, you see two mysterious new senshi (who turn out to be uranus and neptune).

notes: sinice R and S aired in north america so far apart, the first episodes of S are a bit confusing if you're going by the dub. you have to see all of the seasons together, not see the first two and then about two years later see the last three, in my opinion. there are only 200 episodes. you could watch it in less than two thirds of a year. but no, TV spaces them out. FAR out.

so just remember, s comes directly after R. (hey, this could double as a lesson in the alphabet... s comes right after r...)

the midi you are listening to is otome no policy, the ending theme of the R season.
