personality: hotaru is very lonely. since her mother is dead and her father is crazy, and she is very frail and sickly, she doesn't leave the house much, and she doesn't see too many people. she meets chibi-usa in the park, and she finally makes a real friend. unfortunately, haruka and the other outer senshi suspect her of being evil.
so life is pretty bad for hotaru. she gets turned into an evil villian, mistress 9, and then sailorsaturn destroys pharoh 90, even though mistress 9 is dead? it's a very confusing story, and the dub makes it no better. i own the last 7 episodes of s on DVD in subtitles; it was worth the 30$ i shelled out. everything is much more in depth, and explained a lot better. cloverway did an okay job and all, but you really do need to see it in japanese to make sense of any of it.
in the last season, hotaru rapidly grows from a baby into a senshi and gives uranus, neptune, and pluto the power that helios granted the inner senshi: the power to become supersailors.
hotaru and chibi-usa: no, they do NOT have a haruka-michiru thing going on. they are merely FRIENDS. nothing more. some strange people see more, but it just ISN'T THERE!!!

--death reborn revolution: an attack thatt she's NOT supposed to use. but it's the only attack she CAN use in the sailormoon: another story RPG video game. so whatever. it's like pluto's dark dome close.

special notes: i have a few special notes about hotaru and her situation.
ONE: hotaru is NOT, and will NEVER BE a goth. she is just a little girl who is typically and traditionally japanese: black hair, pale skin, and small-structured.
TWO: the glaive is NOT one of the talismans. though i feel it should be, it is not. it was not combined with the other talismans to create the holy grail, or formed of sailorsaturns "heart crystal".
THREE: in the manga, her father dies, which explains why she is raised by haruka, michiru, and setsuna. read super S manga three for more details.
FOUR: hotaru is NOT evil. she was not originally EVIL. she was born good, truned evil momentarily by pharoh 90, and then turned good again. she way NOT born evil.
FIVE: hotaru is not haruka and michiru's child. she was born to two very loving parents on earth, but they kicked the bucket. so after the final battle in S, haruka and michiru take her in. simple as that.
