"No go"s :: Importance of concept :: Prices & payments

Yay! I'm making myself available for commission. Hopefully it'll be a good thing, for you and for me.   I can't imagine why'd you be here if you haven't looked around in the gallery, but if for some strange reason you haven't, get to it!   Then, please read over what's below(yes, I know it's long ~,~') before you request a commission...please. Thank you.
I will work on commissions on a "first come, first serve" basis. If I've just been commissioned or am in the middle of a commission, I will politely ask you to wait until I have finished it, and I will contact you as soon as that happens. ^_^

The list of things I won't do / things not to expect includes...but isn't limited to: ^,^
1 >>   I will not, mostly because I cannot, do mech. No robots, no machinery, no vehicles, no robeasts...nada. If you're going to pay me for work, I want it to be something that I can execute well so that we may both be pleased. ^___^

2 >>   I will not produce hentai / porn / distasteful sexual or nude scenes. To me, there is a big difference between sexy and smutty. If you'd like a nude or "sexy" scene, it must not be graphic(no details, ifyaknowhatimean) and it must be in the best of taste. I will decide what's tasteful. If you don't agree with me, there are millions of other artists online. ^_^ I'm into love, not lust.

3 >>   Don't expect a plethora of details. I dislike "busy" images. I usually keep my art simplistic and easy on the eyes (and brain). This is my taste / style and asking me to break it may result in something... uncool... In other words: I don't / won't do realism, excessive shading / highlighting / detailing, I won't try to pick up a specified artist's style, etc etc. *scratches head; wonders if anyone understands what she's talking about here* ^,^

4 >>   As much as I hate to say this, and I really hate to say this, I will decline from doing fan art. I know...I know you say, "But I want a mainstream character who's in a manga or anime, not your nobody characters." I understand... But I was born into just such luck, that as soon as I whip up a Vash or Inuyasha(for example) fanart and sell it, I'd be just the one to get into trouble. I know they probably have lots o' money and it wouldn't hurt them anymore than a tear in the ocean, but I know I'd hate it if someone drew my characters and sold them without my permission... :(

Y'know, I'm not going to list the things I will do. I'll just leave that up to common sense. ^___^   Should we encounter a problem I will inform you via email. I'd like the process to be friendly instead of robotic.
But there's still a few more things to know before you email me with your proposal. Like some prices n such. ^-^ I hope you find my prices fair; but remember they are just estimates.

First though, I cannot stress enough how helpful a concept sketch is. You could write a 3 page essay to say, "I want a long, black haired girl with her hands on her hips and cape blowing in wind on a hill with a tree here and such, clouds there and such, overlooking mountains and such, and a big silver spikey type dragon soaring under a moon, etc etc etc.", yet a simple henscratched doodle like this I scribbled in less than 30 seconds...

example of concept sketch
This is worth more than 1,000 words on layout and placement and such. I don't care if you draw as good as my 1 year old sister, send me a concept sketch. Not only will I finish your piece much more quickly and to your liking, I'll greatly reduce the price from relieved stress of, "Oh man, what if he/she doesn't really like it this way?" Send it to me digitally thru email or even real-mail it to me, I'll knock off the 37 cents for the stamp. ^_^

Not to say that some words aren't also necessary such as coloring or other significant details...

Email me with your proposal. Include your concept sketch(or very detailed description) of what you'd like me to do. Or email me to let me know that you've sent or are going to send a concept sketch thru the mail. I'll examine your request and respond to you within 24-72 hours with an estimate.
Factors in pricing will be:
Did you provide me with a concept sketch / description that I'm comfortable with? How many characters or such objects do you want? Do they wear complex or elaborately patterned or detailed clothing / accessories that will take extensive time? Are you asking for a lot of scenery or a complex background? How long I spend drawing it & How long I spend coloring it. Are you putting me under a deadline that might cause stress? How much will it cost to print?
Below are some loose estimates. I'm assuming they're all CGed.
No C/S = no concept sketch provided to me.
1 character bust, simple or no background:   $9    No C/S: $15
2 character bust, simple or no background:   $12   No C/S: $18
1 character full, simple or no background:   $15    No C/S: $21
2 character full, simple or no background:   $18    No C/S: $24
2 character full, complex or scenic background:   $25   No C/S: $31
Those are just examples, all situations are different. ^,^   And they don't include S&H charges. Usually $2. [90c envelope, 60c shipping, 50c...for gas to store & P.O. ^,^''']

I'll expect payment of half the estimate after I've finished my version of the concept sketch and before I begin the real work.
I can accept:
PayPal payments(I will make a customized payment button for you when needed, if you'd like ^_^)
Money Orders through snail mail
Well concealed cash via snail mail(not recommended!, but if this is your only option, because...)
I won't accept checks. Sorry for any inconvenience but I've heard too many horror stories and I have bad luck. >:o

Mmm-kay. So if you're still interested, feel free to email me about any questions or concerns or to request your commission. If you're attaching your concept sketch to the email, please, please keep it under 500K. 200K is even more preferable.
