Medicinal Herbs
Tinctures
Tinctures are made with alcohol.  Use only type of herb per jar, they can be blended later if need be.  Tinctures are nice because not only does the alcohol extract the herb's active ingredients, but also acts as a preservative. The proper way to dispense them is by a dropper.

Infusions
Infusions are usually created by steeping 1-2 handfuls of the dried herb in boiling water for about 15 minutes.  Using a ceramic container, metals tend to corrupt the flavor and usefulness of herbal preparations.  Infusions will last for a couple of days if they are placed in a cooler.

Chamomile
Used in herbal teas, chamomile is a smooth muscle relaxant.  The plant is very easy to grow outside and forms a fast growing ground cover that has the scent of an apple.

Oil
The whole flowers are used fresh in distilling chamomile oil or dried in tea.  They also have a sedative affect and is very useful for relieving headaches.

Cloves
The parts that are used are the flower buds.  The essential oil was once primarily used as a dental anesthetic.

Garlic and Onions
Few herbs have received as much attention as these herbs.  Garlic's healing qualities have been known for centuries, the oils are effective against most bacteria.  Onions and Garlic are very good herbs in healing bruises and swollen areas.

Agrimony
An infusion of the leaves is used to treat skin problems, can also be used as an anesthetic when performing surgery.

Aloe Vera
The gel of the inner part of a aloe leaf is used to treat burns and skin rashes.  It aids in healing wounds by drawing out the infection.

Arro
Pour a cup of boiling water onto the herb, leave for 10 minutes, when fever is present it should be given in tea and drunk every two hours till fever is gone.

Blue Short Grass
Grows under water of the falls, when dried and crushes it has numbing qualities.  The powder aids in comfort and pain.

Cayenne Pepper
When made as a tea it helps stop internal bleeding, when applied as a paste it helps to stop external bleeding.

Green Powder
A powder which can be mixed with water to make a tea or sprinkled over a wound dry.  Acts as an antibiotic to promote healing.

Lavenia
Place 1 teaspoon of the dried herb to a cup of boiling water and leave for 10 minutes.  Is used to relieve pain.

It draws out infections, eases burns and halts bleeding.

A natural antibiotic, it can be ground and used in healing high risk wounds and prevents infections.
