Invading Ireland on the first of May, Her tribe is known as Tuatha De Danann, they battled the Fir Bolg and eventually won an uneasy peace.  As Mother of the faeries as well, She is close to the land and waters.

In Celtic Mythology, She is remembered as Anu, Danu, or Ana, Mother of Her people.  Her name is commemorated in the landscape, as in the Paps of Anu in Killarney, and elsewhere.  She is a river of gifts, of inspiration and brightness.  She can also bring sleep or darkness.  As a Great Mother She encompasses both light and Dark, both giving and receiving back.  Ana has been known to appear in the form of a swan, representing the purity of the female and gracefulness in motherhood.

Goddess Ana is and was known as the Irish Goddess, Mother Goddess, and the greatest of all Goddesses.  She was known as Goddess of Knowledge, Healing, Fertility, Prosperity, and comfort.  She is also Mother of the Irish Gods.  The flowering fertility Goddess, sometimes She formed a trinity with Badb and Macha.  Her Priestesses would comfort the dying.   Every year during midsummer fires are lit in honor of Goddess Ana.
